TOPIC: THE BURDEN OF WIDOWHOOD AND GOD’S RESPONSE
SEPTEMBER Tuesday 4th

TEXT: Luke 18:1-3
KEY VERSE: Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. Matthew 23: 14
Widowhood can come at any time. It is not something you plan for but it just happens. The load and tensions of widowhood are much. Practical examination of widowhood shows the following challenges confronting widows:
1. Grief And Sorrow. It can last a long time because no man can take immediate place of the husband. Grief comes not only because of the loss of husband, but because of the accusation of men. In some places it is thought that if the husband dies it is the wife that killed him. Sometimes, she may be taken to a shrine to swear to an oath or made to drink the water used in washing late husband’s body, her hair may be shaven, she may have to wear black clothes. For a Christian widow, never accept to do all these abominable things. Also, her grief comes when she has desire of the bodily romances of a husband but he is not there for her. That is why some go into masturbation or lesbianism.
2. Single Parenting. She becomes the breadwinner of the house, providing food, clothing, school fees etc. Everybody is now looking up to mummy.
3. She Is In A State Of Hopelessness And Discouragement As Far As Marriage And Societal Recognition Is Concerned. How many men are ready to marry a widow with children? She may wonder, “When will I marry as a young woman? Will it ever be possible again?”
4. Exposure To Human Humiliation, Reproach And Exploitation. In our reading text (Luke 18:1-3), we see he widow seeking justice. Perhaps they have taken away all her husband’s property and left her with nothing to live on.
5. Exposure To Corrupt And Immoral Men Who Want To Take Advantage Of Them. Even church leaders and rich men have no pity for them. They want to take advantage of their vulnerable situation (Matthew 23:14).
6. She Lives A Shameful Life Committing Immorality And Living A Beggarly Life. No more dignity of womanhood. She is now a open market.
7. She Faces Satanic Attack And Tribulation Alone. Who partners her to fight the battle of life?
What is the widow’s response to all these challenges? She is to look of up heaven where her Helper is. God is her Helper, her Comforter, her Provider, her Defender, her Saviour and her Husband. He who watches over her life never sleeps or slumbers.
Thought for the day:   Widow! Take your case to God in prayer.
Song for the day:  Prayer is the key (2x) … Prayer is the master key
Bible reading for the day: Proverbs 5-6; 1 Corinthians 14:1-20

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...
For taking your time to study remain blessed. FACTS TO BE UNDERSTOOD ON REVELATION MESSAGES WEDNESDAY JANUARY 11 TEXT: NUMBERS 12: 4-8. Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
