OPIC: YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE
SEPTEMBER Friday 28th

TEXT: Genesis 22:1-13
KEY VERSE: Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 2 Peter 3: 14

Men are often full of excuses to avoid responsibility, even when God is involved. Moses came up with lots of excuses and even suggested that God should appoint another person in his place. Jonah ran away from the assignment he was given; but not so with father Abraham. When God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac, he had enough reasons not to do so but he obeyed.
1. An Only Son. God emphasized to him, “It is your only son.” This is the only son Abraham bore after 25 years of marriage and it was in old age. It was a miracle birth because Sarah, his wife, was already past child-bearing age. To sacrifice Isaac meant he might never have an heir through his legal marriage. It also meant the promise of God to bless his future generations would never come to pass. Yet this did not deter him from obeying God.
2. The Son He Loved. Again, God reminded him of the deep love he had for his son. It was a type of God’s sacrifice of his begotten Son that would take place centuries later.  Isaac was practically all Abraham had left to live for in this world, yet God requested for his life. What a great trial of faith!
3. Three Days Journey. The journey took three days into the wilderness. God must have given enough time for Abraham to change his mind. An unwilling Abraham could have changed his mind several times over within the 4,300 minutes he had to meditate over the matter.
4. Sarah Factor.  If Abraham had told Sarah about it, she might have objected. The love of mother for child would probably not have allowed her to consent. Abraham knew this and kept the information away from her. He did not want any discouragement or distraction. He was determined to obey God no matter the cost.

In all these, Abraham did not waver in faith. He remained obedient and valued his relationship with God above everything else in the world. Are you ready to obey God and serve Him wholeheartedly and diligently under God-ordained leaders without looking for excuses?

Thought for the day: No excuse is good enough to disobey God or His ordained leaders
Song for the day: I am ready to obey your word (2x) I am ready to obey, the living word of God
Bible reading for the day:
Isaiah 13-15; Galatians 6

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
