TOPIC: THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TRUE AND A NOMINAL CHRISTIAN
SEPTEMBER Monday 24th
TEXT: 1 Corinthians 3:1-3

KEY VERSE: Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 2 Corinthians 13: 5

Romans 9:6, “For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel.” Not all Christians are true Christians. Not everyone you find in the church is a true believer. A true Christian is revealed by his or her Christ-like character. Acts 11:26, “And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.” The adjective “Christian” is a distinguishing identity. It refers to a person that has the life or gene of Christ in him. It refers to somebody who walks not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. The Christian is a light illuminating the dark world and a role model that others pattern their lives after.

Let us look at some key attributes of a true Christian. Typically, a true Christian will be sanctified, that is, purified both inwardly and outwardly (2 Corinthians 7:1). He would be a holy vessel fit for the Master’s use (2 Timothy 2:20-21). He is set apart for the exclusive use of God, not Satan. He loves God and does not indulge in sin (1 John 3:6-9). He trusts God and will not compromise his faith under any circumstance. He has overcome the fear of death, demons and the powers of darkness. He is heavenly focused and not attracted to the glitters and pleasures of these world. He is humble, prayerful, dutiful, honest and always sets good example for others to emulate.

On the contrary, the life of a nominal Christian can hardly be distinguished from that of an unbeliever. In the real sense, he may not be referred to as a Christian because he is a slave to sin and the only difference between him and an unbeliever is the name of Jesus he professes and the bible he carries about. He could be very religious and zealous for God’s work but the life of Christ is not in him and he is not a good testimony in holy living. He is converted but unbroken; a hypocrite and pretender. Unfortunately, this is the category most people in the church fall into.  Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. Where do you belong? Examine yourself and retrace your steps back to God.

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
