TOPIC: REMOVE THE OBSTACLE TO YOUR HEAVENLY RACE (3) – THE FLESH
AUGUST TUESDAY 7th
TEXT: Galatians 5:16-21
KEY VERSE: Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul. 1 Peter 2: 11

The flesh is a big obstacle to your heavenly race. The flesh has its own desires called fleshly lusts and these desires war against the soul. 1 Peter 2:11, “Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul.” These lusts are fighting to ensure that you don't make it to heaven. Immorality, idolatry, witchcraft, pride, anger, intolerance, impatience, beauty, ego, class distinction, discrimination, alcohol and the like. Even eating food can cause a problem. Esau lost his birthright to food. Jesus lived forty days without food yet He refused to allow the flesh make Him sin. Esau missed heaven for a morsel of meat. You became a harlot for food? You compromised your chastity as a woman because you want to feed your family? It is not an excuse. Lazarus died a poor hungry man full of sores but he made heaven.
Women took Solomon off the track. The man of great wisdom was not wise in the matters of the opposite sex. He had seven hundred wives and three hundred concubines. Many ministers of God with great anointing have fallen on the laps of women. Nehemiah 13:2, “Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin.” Samson would do great feat uprooting iron gate and carrying it uphill but thereafter he would go and lie at the feet of a woman. He could not keep his body under check. 1 Corinthians 9:27, “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”
Watch your desire that you may not fall into temptation. When a thought or feeling is coming, can't you do something about it before it comes to the boiling point? Before the water gets to the boiling point, does it not make some noise? Watch your feeling. Proverbs 22:3, “A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.” Flee fornication. Why are you close to immoral people that will lure you into sin? Consider the wisdom of Joseph. He refused to develop desire for what did not belong to him.

Thought for the day: Take flesh to the cross and crucify it there that the old man might die and you can live.
Song for the day: I want to be like Daniel … to follow Jesus Christ
Bible reading for the day: Psalm 79-81; Romans 8:1-18

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
