TOPIC:  FACING THE CHALLENGES OF WIDOWHOOD
 AUGUST Tuesday 28th

TEXT: Deuteronomy 30:15-19
KEY VERSE: Who is among you that feareth the Lord that obeyeth the voice of his servant that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God. Isaiah 50: 10

Even though widowhood produces many challenges, the widow can still live a life of holiness and righteousness and remain heaven-bound. It is a matter of personal decision. Let's examine the case of two widows. In Ruth 1:4-18, two women faced the same circumstance but chose different paths of widowhood.  Some widows became second wives, concubines and harlots because they could not take the right decision. Ruth was determined that she would not let herself be abused because of widowhood. God who made the mouth knows how to fill the stomach. God who made the body knows how to kill the sensual desire of the body. Ruth took a costly decision taking a risk on God and today, no widow has exceeded her record. That which Ruth lost for the sake of Christ all came back to her. At the time your husband died, God set before you two things: good and evil, blessing and cursing, life and death (Deuteronomy 30:15, 19). God wants you to make the right choice and take the right decision even as you face the challenges of widowhood.

Purpose in your heart not to defile yourself. Daniel 1:8, “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.” Tame your desires. God will not sponsor follies. Purpose in your heart no man shall see your nakedness. Like Job, purpose in your heart to preserve your integrity and righteousness. Job 27:1-6 “Moreover Job continued his parable, and said, As God liveth, who hath taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, who hath vexed my soul; All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils; My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit. God forbid that I should justify you: till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me. My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.” Are you a widow? Maintain your faith in God whatever condition you are passing through in your widowhood.

Thought for the day:  Widowhood is not condemnation to a life of misery. It is an opportunity to move closer to God.
Song for the day:   I will never, never end my journey half way
Bible reading for the day:
Psalms 136-138; 1 Corinthians 9

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
