TOPIC: REMOVE THE OBSTACLE TO YOUR HEAVENLY RACE (4) – THE WORLD
AUGUST Sunday 26th
TEXT: 1 John 2:15-17
KEY VERSE: Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. James 4: 4
The cares of this world and friendship with the world will shift your focus from Jesus and distract you from the heavenly race. 2 Timothy 4:10, “For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.” Here, Paul was saying, Demas was with me, he agreed with me, agreed with my doctrine and preached what I preached. He was one of the ministers of the gospel but the love of the world overcame him and he succumbed. The attractions of this world will blind you to the reality of the beauty of heaven. Some of the countries of the world look so great and wonderful that you cannot start to imagine how heaven will look like. But the world is a deceitful place where the mansions of the earth have blinded many to the glory of heaven and they do not see heaven again. Jesus came to this world and did not build a house. He was born in a manger. Does this not show that the earth has nothing to offer Him? The atmospheric heaven and the earth shall one day be wiped out in a jiffy. That is why the attention of God is not upon this world. But the world has covered the eyes of many people to the point that they are no more seeing God.

Satan can make the world look so pleasurable by giving you the riches of this world such that you do not know suffering. Then to you, the earth is beautiful and irresistible! When life becomes too comfortable the likelihood is that you will forget God.  Except you understand that everything you have in this world belongs to Christ they will take heaven away from you. On the other hand, the Devil can give you poverty such that your mind is always occupied on how to make money and shake off poverty.  Even in the church you are not focused because you are thinking of how to make money. You are in a world of competition, competing for beauty. Latest fashion and the latest version or model of everything. Take this exhortation: Don’t love the fancies of this world. Don’t go into the excesses of this life. Don’t be covetous. Don’t set your heart on vanity. Don’t let your flesh be gratified by the provisions of this life. Don’t join the parties of this world seeking for pleasure and joy. Be crucified to this world because of Jesus. Fix your eyes on Christ. Trust in the Lord. Run the heavenly race for this earth passes away.
Thought for the day: Close your eyes to this world that you may see and yearn for the beauty and glory of heaven.
Song for the day:  This world is not my home, I am just passing through
Bible reading for the day:  Psalm 128-131; 1 Corinthians 7:25-40

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
