TOPIC: YEARNING, SIGHING AND PRAYER FOR HOLY GHOST BAPTISM         
AUGUST MONDAY 6th

TEXT: Acts 2:1-4
KEY VERSE: Mathew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Yearning is a longing, hunger, thirsty or craving for something. Sighing is a frantic effort of a dying man to survive. Combined with prayer, this is the mood for receiving the Holy Ghost baptism. Baptism in the Holy Ghost is divine empowerment for service. The visible sign of Holy Ghost baptism is speaking in tongues. This must not be confused with the special gift of speaking in tongues & interpretation of tongues. The pre-requisite for Holy Ghost baptism is to be Born Again. Acts 19:2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. Even though the experience may come after laying of hands (Acts 19:6), it is not a pre-condition. Water Baptism is not a pre-requisite either because in Acts 10:43-48, the gentiles received Holy Ghost baptism before they were baptized by water.

Why Many Tarried Long, Yet Do Not Receive
1. Unbelief or Doubt. James 1:6-8 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
2. Fear Of Receiving Evil Spirit. Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
3. Some Wrong Doctrines Taught That Not All Can Speak in Tongue. They quote 1 Corinthians 12:9-10, 29-30 but we see that everywhere people were filled they spoke in tongues.
Let nobody confuse you by saying you can be taught to speak in tongues. You are speaking the language of heaven, not the language of men. It is not the duty of man to teach you. The Holy Spirit prompts you and gives you utterance. When the Holy Ghost comes upon you in power, you will operate at a higher spiritual dimension for service as you manifest the gift of the Holy Spirit. You will be endued from on high with great power to pray in the Holy Ghost with groaning that cannot be altered in human language. Pray for it, yearn for it, sigh for it, desire it earnestly, it is your privilege for fruitful and effectual service.
