TOPIC: MY EXPERIENCES WITH MONEY MINDED MINISTERS OF OUR TIME (1)

TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 6:3-10 

3. If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 

4. He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 

5. Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

6. But godliness with contentment is great gain.

7. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. [8] And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

9. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

10. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 

KEY VERSE: ROMANS 16:18: For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

There is a testimony I want to share of my encounter with money minded ministers. In 2007, I Senator Emmanuel Bwacha faced difficulty when I attempted to switch from the House of Representatives to the Senate in the National Assembly. Having served a tenure in the green chambers, I was determined to move on to the red chambers. I had not come into Holiness Revival Movement then. 

A brother who I later met in HOREMOW connected me to a pastor from Ghana for solution but he is no longer here. He used to come for our conferences in HOREMOW and suddenly, maybe he needed to be recognized for he wanted to project himself and that did not happen so he left. He said, I am going to introduce you to a pastor from Ghana that is very gifted. If he prays for you, it will be difficult for you not to get what you want. 

I was then in tribunal for election petitions since the results did not favor me. He said, all you need to do is just to sow a seed in his life. I said, what do you mean by sow a seed? He said, I should give him substantial money that if I give it out, I will feel that I have given out something. I said, okay and gave him five hundred thousand naira. They went and shared the money, in the guise that he was going to pray for me to win the election petition but I lost at the end.

These instances are there all over. In my testimony, I said that I have gone around and seen the things happening in churches before God brought me to HOREMOW. I have had a lot of experience among church leaders but I was thirsty for the true word. You can hardly find truth that brings conviction. 

Ministers are either trying to project themselves or ask for money. These are money-minded ministers. It is a terrible out there. There is famine of the word. Covetousness and lack of contentment are the problems in the lives of many ministers today. In everything they do, their minds are on money.
