TOPIC: DO NOT BLOCK THE WAY OF GOD THROUGH YOUR HUMAN SYMPATHY OR JUDGMENT August Saturday 8th
TEXT: Psalm 139:1-3
KEY VERSE: Job 23:10 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
It takes spiritual understanding to see things in the way God sees them. A man was watching a cocoon (shell). The cocoon was shaking and turning this way and that way. He was wondering what was happening. Suddenly, the shell had a crack and the head of a butterfly came out of the cocoon. The man exclaimed, “Ah, so butterfly is inside here? This is mystery.” The cocoon continued shaking and shaking; turning here and there, then the head came out fully, but the body was still in the cocoon. The cocoon started turning again and the man in sympathy thought in his mind, Oh, you want to come out of this cocoon? Is the cocoon too strong to allow you come out? I am going to help you to come out.
He went and picked the cocoon and broke the shell but in the process, the infant butterfly died. He started wondering why the butterfly died. What the man didn’t know was that the formation of the butterfly was attached to the strain it was passing through. As he saw the butterfly turn this way and turn that way, he didn’t know it was part of the maturing process for its body. As it turned and turned, the matured part of its body would come out. That is how God made the process of its birth. When the shell was artificially broken, the un-matured part of the body of the butterfly suffered irreversible damage in the process. That was why the butterfly died. So be careful how you meddle in other men’s matters.
Are you a sympathetic person? We praise God, but be very careful. There is a limit to how you can interfere in other people’s matters. If you do not apply good discretion, you may turn out to be a nuisance and guilty of sin. You are not the creator of that person, so you cannot be more sympathetic than God. Who knows more between you and God? Who is more pitiful, who is more understanding? Job said, “He knows the way that I take.” Do you know the way a man takes? That is why you must deal with care. Know that God has a programme for every man He has created. Learn not to interfere or block the way of God by your human sympathy or judgment.
