TOPIC: BE A CUSTODIAN OF TRUTH AND A PROMOTER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS August Sunday 23rd
TEXT: James 1:21-22
KEY VERSE: Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
Promote truth, righteousness and holiness in your home, church, office, in the market place and everywhere you go. Truth is a transforming agent. Go and preach it to people that they may change. When King Josiah heard the truth of scripture, he gathered his people together and said, “We are going to do this righteousness. We are going to preach this and stand on it. We would get God to come in to us and not leave Him outside anymore.” (Paraphrased) Go and preach it to your church members. Let those that hate the truth and would want to leave, do so. You have been gathering demons and you say they are members of your church. Will you fellowship with demons and go to heaven? They will frustrate your life. Go and tell them the truth. You have been celebrating darkness, now go and shine the light there. Those who are of darkness will leave. It is only then you could say you have a church and Jesus the light will be with you. He will bring as many as are to be saved into the fold and real gospel work will begin.
Many church-goers have been chained. They are under bondage in that Laodicean church. What is going on there is appealing to you because you are profiting from a fraudulent enterprise. You joined them to deceive others. Their immorality is very cheap. You find the ladies cheap so you love the environment. But the Lord is saying that you will never go in the rapture if you remain in that condition. Get from God true righteousness. He said, “Buy of Me white raiment, that your nakedness should be covered, so that your shame should be taken away.” In the church, they are doing Christianity with lies. I remember something that happened when I visited one of these Bishops in Kano. Because he was the president of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) at that time and we had a programme we were organizing which he was to coordinate. As I was with him, his phone rang and in the course of his discussion he told the caller, “I am in Abuja.” Can you imagine? I began to doubt if I heard him well. When he hung up he said, “You know, with this phone we can tell some little, little lies.” That is the Bishop of a Laodicean church. Don’t join them in sin.
Thought for the day: Make righteousness the signpost of your life.
Song for the day: I will work for the Lord, while it’s day, the night shall come when no man…..
Bible reading for the day: Psalm 119:105-176; 1 Corinthians 5
