TOPIC: WHAT IS RESTITUTION?
TEXT: Leviticus 6:1-6
KEY VERSE: Leviticus 6:4 Then it shall be, because he hath sinned, and is guilty, that he shall restore that which he took violently away, or the thing which he hath deceitfully gotten, or that which was delivered him to keep, or the lost thing which he found,
Restitution in general, in human relationship, is the practice of the law of conscience, formal or informal, whereby the offender rectifies or corrects his ways by doing the following things:
1. Confessing his crime to those he has offended in apology.
2. Seeking forgiveness from those he has offended.
3. Making good another’s property that has been damaged
4. Restoring stolen things to the rightful owners.
5. Confessing lies told or acted to those deceived.
6. Paying back just debt owed.
7. Relinquishing false claims, false property, false results, false certificates, etc.
8. Uncovering hidden crimes committed against men or the society.
This is done in order to appease one’s conscience, to appease the offended, to satisfy the law of the society and of God. Restitution is practicable in every sphere of human society – primitive society, civilized society, religious society and Christian society. It is the law of moral societal living. Even among the heathen, restitution is carried out. Very often, you see a man apologizing to the other: “I am sorry;” “Please, I am sorry for what I told you the other time;” “Please, I am sorry for what I did against you;” “I am sorry for hurting you;” “Please forgive me for what I did against your family;” “Please, I am sorry for the way I spoke to you” etc. That happens in the society, be it primitive or civilized. In the villages and wherever human beings live, they carry out restitution formally or informally, consciously or unconsciously.
In an organized society where there is government, we have the police stations, and the law courts where the government organizes restitutions and enacts laws and decrees that institute restitution among the citizens. We have, for example, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Nigeria, and other institutions that ensure funds embezzled from the government are recovered and returned to government coffers. In the courts of law, if you do something bad against someone and they discover that what you did was bad, you would be mandated to make good the bad which you have done as a matter of equity and justice. Restitution is practicable. It is practicable between husbands and wives. It is practicable between parents and children. Restitution in general is a great doctrine because it beautifies human relationships; it heals wounds of the heart and restores broken relationships. It is something that gives peace, joy, confidence and assurance to those that practice it.
Thought for the day: Right your wrong with men to put right your way with God.
Song for the day: My lifetime, I will give God my life time… if I give God my life….

The Source Of Faith

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. The Source Of Faith  Tuesday 18th March Text: Romans 1:16-17 Key Verse: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17 What is the foundation for our faith? The faith of the just man has the following sources, from where it gets its inspiration. The Word Of God: The foundation of the faith of the just, is the word of God.  The word of God is the production room of the faith which the just exercises. The faith of the just has its foundation in what God has said in His word.  Faith seeks for what God has said to stand upon.  Have you seen the promises of God for you, from the word? Have you seen God's message for you, in the scriptures?  Believe it absolutely, and it shall surely come to pass. This will enhance your faith for subsequent needs of your life. “God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: hath He said, ...
