TOPIC: MARRYING A SECOND WIFE OR HUSBAND MEANS MARRYING WRONGLY  

TEXT: GENESIS 20:1-6 
1. “And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar. 
2. And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. 
3. But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife. 
4. But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation? 
5. Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. 
6. And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

KEY VERSE: LUKE 16:18 “Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery”.  

Marrying a second wife while your first wife is still alive means committing adultery. And we know that no adulterer has any part in the kingdom of heaven. You have left your first wife and gotten married to a second woman. You are one flesh with your first wife, but not with a second woman. One flesh with only one woman. 

Adam had only Eve. Adam was not one flesh with every woman. No, only Eve. So, you are to be one flesh with only one woman until the woman dies. So, if the woman is alive and you go to marry another, you are committing adultery. Or else you just drive away the woman and say, “I can stay”, you may not be able to endure.  

God is the judge. If God knows that you practice stubbornness, He may not give you the grace to endure the temptations of the devil, because you are proud. Or you leave your husband and say, “I can stay alone.” Make sure it is because the fault is not with you, and God is witness. 

Carry the church, a godly church, along with you, to be witness that that is actually an action you can take. Otherwise, you are opening danger for your life, and for the man himself that you have left. Because he can be tempted into immorality, and you carry the guilt. And for yourself too, you may not be able to stand and then, you miss heaven. 

So, marrying wrongly is marrying somebody else's wife. It is marrying a second wife and marrying a second husband. If you marry a woman that has married a man before, and the husband has driven her away. You are committing adultery. 

Take note that not all the people that attend holiness conference and do ushering, singing in the choir, preaching and other activities, are real Christians. Not just love, go beyond love. Add truth to your love.
