TOPIC: YOU MUST BE DIFFERENT    SEPTEMBER Saturday 1st TEXT: Daniel 1:3-7 KEY VERSE: But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.  Daniel 1: 8 Daniel distinguished himself in exemplary living.  He attended a 3-year course at the school of the gifted that was set up by king Nebuchadnezzar. He was there with three other Hebrew boys. The school was to prepare intelligent minds for high positions in government. As meal, they were offered food from the king’s table. But this food was first sacrificed to idols before they are served and righteous Daniel knew this. Daniel stood out of the crowd of students and rejected the food. The power of his exemplary life influenced the other three Hebrew boys, who joined him to reject the food. “But Daniel purposed in hi

TOPIC: THE JOY IN TEACHING THE TRUTH        AUGUST Friday 31st TEXT: 3 John 1- 4 KEY VERSE: Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. Proverbs 23: 23 It is a great joy to know the truth and a greater joy to impact it in others and see it manifest in holy and righteous living.  That is why I emphasis the truth and labour to make it so clear, leaving nothing to ambiguity. I have no hesitation in going to where people fear to tread in order to shine the light of God there and not leave the people in darkness. The truth becomes manifest and God is happy about it. We appreciate God for this grace. In another dimension, it is painful and sorrowful to see multitudes in churches where the Spirit of God is not present. God is not there, yet they are excited, they dance, they shout. It is very disturbing. What can be done in the circumstance? How can you have access to these people and make them know tha

TOPIC:  FAITH IS BELEIVING AND ACTING ON THE WORD OF GOD AUGUST Thursday 30th TEXT: Romans 1:16-17 KEY VERSE: Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. Hebrews 10: 38 Faith is to be understood in two respects. The first aspect refers to teachings delivered to the church which is the whole bible. Revelation of divine truth delivered unto us. Teachings on repentance, salvation, restitution, sanctification, baptism in Holy Ghost, prayer etc. Jude 1:3, “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. The second aspect of faith is active faith, which makes you contact God for His blessing, miracle and power that you might receive the desires of your heart. It is active faith that connects a sinner to God to

TOPIC: PEACE MAKERS AMONG BRETHREN        AUGUST Wednesday 29th TEXT: 1 Samuel 25: 14-31 KEY VERSE: Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Matthew 5: 9 Jesus is a peacemaker. He is the Mediator between God and man. He offered Himself as a sacrificial Lamb to reconcile man back to God. He is the Prince of peace.   Jesus demonstrated this virtue in His life and teachings during His earthly ministry. He has also called His children to the ministry of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation. Jesus does not only want to promote peace among brethren in church, but also wants to raise peacemakers in Holiness Movement that will propagate the gospel of peace in this turbulent world. Peacemakers make peace through reconciliation. They are able to make peace because they have had encoun

TOPIC:  FACING THE CHALLENGES OF WIDOWHOOD         AUGUST Tuesday 28th TEXT: Deuteronomy 30:15-19 KEY VERSE: Who is among you that feareth the Lord that obeyeth the voice of his servant that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God. Isaiah 50: 10 Even though widowhood produces many challenges, the widow can still live a life of holiness and righteousness and remain heaven-bound. It is a matter of personal decision. Let's examine the case of two widows. In Ruth 1:4-18, two women faced the same circumstance but chose different paths of widowhood.  Some widows became second wives, concubines and harlots because they could not take the right decision. Ruth was determined that she would not let herself be abused because of widowhood. God who made the mouth knows how to fill the stomach. God who made the body knows how to kill the sensual desire of the body. Ruth took a costl
TOPIC: GODLINESS WITH CONTENTMENT IS GREAT GAIN        AUGUST Monday 27th TEXT: Philippians: 4:11-13 KEY VERSE: But godliness with contentment is great gain. 1 Timothy 6: 6 Why don't you wait on God for your needs? Why must you steal to pay your children’s school fees? Is it not a curse the father is bringing on the children through the accursed thing? You want to mortgage their lives to Satan? Why not be patient with God as you wait on His promise? The Bible says in Psalm 37:25, “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” In one of the locations I pastored in Deeper Life Bible Church, I paid my tithe as usual during one of the services. Surprisingly, when the offering and tithes were counted after service to enable us take some money and buy something we needed for the church, the whole money was less than the tithe I paid. More surprisingly, another member said he too had paid a tithe which was even higher

TOPIC: REMOVE THE OBSTACLE TO YOUR HEAVENLY RACE (4) – THE WORLD        AUGUST Sunday 26th TEXT: 1 John 2:15-17 KEY VERSE: Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. James 4: 4 The cares of this world and friendship with the world will shift your focus from Jesus and distract you from the heavenly race. 2 Timothy 4:10, “For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.” Here, Paul was saying, Demas was with me, he agreed with me, agreed with my doctrine and preached what I preached. He was one of the ministers of the gospel but the love of the world overcame him and he succumbed. The attractions of this world will blind you to the reality of the beauty of heaven. Some of the countries of the world look so great and wonderful

TOPIC: BE READY TO LIVE WITH CONTRADICTIONS OF SINNERS        AUGUST Saturday 25th TEXT: Hebrews 12:3-4 KEY VERSE: It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? Matthew 10: 25 The believer must be ready to live with the contradictions of sinners for Jesus faced the same challenge and endured it. Even family members mocked as they did not believe on Him. John 7:1-5, “After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him. Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand. His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself t
TOPIC: WIVES, BE OBEDIENT TO YOUR HUSBAND        AUGUST Friday 24th TEXT: Ephesians 5:20-24 KEY VERSE: Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Colossians 3: 18 In every institution there is a leader. We have the president, governor, manager and so on. In marriage there, is also a leader. Your husband is unique among all leaders because you have an almost exclusive possession of him. Your goal as a wife should be to please your husband and to have a peaceful home where there is love, peace and harmony. A house divided against itself cannot stand. Husbands are of different calling and vocation such as pastors, politicians, artisans, civil servants etc. Husbands are also of differ characters. Some are worldly, some are simple, some get angry easily. Submit to your husband as a duty in the spirit of love and inasmuch as it does not conflict with God’s command. 1 John 4:7-11, “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one tha

ENDURE HARDNESS AS A GOOD SOLDIER OF CHRIST        AUGUST Thursday 23rd TEXT: 2 Corinthians 11:23-28 KEY VERSE: If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. Proverbs 24: 10 1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” The devil is looking for you, like other believers. He comes like a roaring lion to devour you. Will you allow that? David resisted the lions that came for the sheep that were in his care. He told Saul, “Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them.” Are you a Christian?  You must resist Satan who prowls about looking for whom to devour. 1 Peter 5:9, “Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” The God of all grace allows a moment of suffering or hardness in your life. TOPIC: SIN DEPRIVES, HOLINESS RESTORES        AUGUST Wednesday 22nd TEXT: Luke 1:74-75 KEY VERSE: Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Titus 2: 12 Sin deforms and twists its victim. Moral deformity, moral deprivation! An empty sack cannot stand erect. That is the deprived nature we inherited from Adam. That is why David wrote in Psalm 51:5 , “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” As descendants of Adam, everyone of us has the adamic sin in him or her. Job 14:4 says, “Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.” Sins forgiven when you become born again are those committed by yourself not the inherited one. Sin of fornication, lying, cheating etc. That's why Jesus told the woman, "Your many sins are forgiven." Salvation gives you power to stop your act of sin. It gives you power to beco

TOPIC: DILIGENT HOLINESS OF HEAVEN-BOUND SINGLE SISTER         AUGUST Tuesday 21st TEXT: 1 Corinthians 7:32-33 KEY VERSE: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6: 33 Single sisters include sisters who are yet to marry but who desire to marry, women who had children out of wedlock and widows who desire to remarry. It could also be a woman with disability who inwardly desires husband. In time past single women of twenty-five or even thirty years are not under pressure to marry. But things are different now. These days, a lady of 18 years has graduated and is ready for marriage. At what age should a lady marry? It is not about being a university graduate, but maturity. When do you pluck a mango fruit? It is not about size but maturity. Even if not ripe, you can pluck when mature knowing that it will ripe within a few days. The standard age for marriage for sin

TOPIC: THE SECRET OF A PEACEFUL LIFE 4 – WORRY LESS, PRAY MORE          AUGUST Monday 20th TEXT:   Philippians 4:6-7 KEY VERSE: And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. Luke 12: 22 Whatever the bad news or bad thought or bad dream, commit it to prayer and you will enjoy the peace of God. Suppose somebody tells you that you will die, the scripture says don’t worry. Suppose you hear about rumour of retrenchment in the office, don’t worry. Just commit it to God in prayer. Suppose you are afflicted by a terminal disease or a debilitating sickness, the scripture is still saying, don’t worry about it. If you wake up without anything in your pocket and there is no food in the house, still don’t worry. The Christian principle is that you have a God that cares, so why are you worried? Commit it to God in prayer and be peaceful. Is G

TOPIC: EFFECTUAL FERVENT PRAYER FOR SANCTIFICATION AND HOLY LIVING      AUGUST Sunday 19th TEXT: Proverbs 2:3-5 KEY VERSE: Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11: 24 Seek God in prayer for your sanctification and righteousness to pave your way to heaven.  Jeremiah 29:11-13, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” God wants to give you holiness and heaven but He says, “You must call and pray unto Me and seek Me that I may grant your request.” Leaders are called for a greater task. TOPIC: GOD'S COMFORT AND HEALING FOR THOSE IN PAIN        AUGUST Saturday 18th TEXT: 2 Corinthians 1:1-5 KEY VERSE: For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody. Isaiah 51: 3 God is the source of all comfort and He has appeared on your case. When Jesus came to the bereaved family of Martha and Mary He came with comfort. The comfort of Jesus is different from the comfort of man.  John 11:33-35, “When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, He groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto Him, Lord, come and see. Jesus wept.” Do you know that Jesus cares and feels for you in your pain? Do you know that He weeps over your case? Jesus loves you so much. Jesus ca

TOPIC: BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT          AUGUST Friday 17th TEXT: Joel 2:28-29  KEY TEXT: And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. Acts 2: 17 The baptism of Holy Ghost is in fulfilment of divine promise. It was first experienced at Pentecost. The Holy Ghost baptism is needed for accomplishment of divine purpose on earth. 1 Samuel 2:9, “He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.” The work of God cannot be done in the flesh. Zechariah 4:6, “Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.” The Holy Spirit is spoken of in Malachi how He will purity and sanctify fo

TOPIC: SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT OF HEAVEN-BOUND CHRISTIAN          AUGUST Thursday 16th TEXT: 2 Timothy 2:14-16 KEY VERSE: Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalm 119: 11 The Christian that is heaven-bound must follow certain principles for her spiritual development in order to make her journey smooth. 1. Study The Word Of God Diligently. The word of God will keep you from sinning against God. Study to pattern your life after our Lord Jesus and to live a pure life. You will be pure in your thoughts, deeds, dressing and utterance. Through study you will have more knowledge of God that will take away ignorance and make you walk in the light. Your spiritual eyes will be opened. The word of God is a powerful weapon of war to break and tear asunder everything that raises itself against the purpose of God in your life. The word is a Guardian. Through it you will be prosperous. TOPIC: MANY ADVERSARIES AGAINST THE HEAVEN-BOUND CHRISTIAN         AUGUST Tuesday 14th TEXT: Revelation 3:7-8 KEY VERSE: For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries. 1 Corinthians 16: 9 There is no easy passage to heaven. Adversaries are many and Satan is the principal one. Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 2:18, “Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.” Satan is but a thief who, “Cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” Satan will want to sabotage your heavenly journey using the following: 1. Your Heart. Satan will make you to love the things of the world, including jewelries, money. Bible says where a man’s treasure is, there is his heart. 2. Your Parents. Parents will threaten to stop paying your school fees, to disown you unless you do their unholy bidding. The aim of Satan is to use them to get you out of the way to heaven.

TOPIC: SELF-DENIAL        AUGUST Monday 13th TEXT: 1 Corinthians 6:12-13 KEY VERSE: Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Matthew 16: 24 Self-denial is discipline. It is the willingness to deny oneself of possessions or status or rights in order to grow in holiness and commitment to God. Through it you crucify the flesh so that the soul can live in obedience to God. It is not everything the body needs you give to it. Yes, when the body needs food or water you have to give it to it so that you will not be famished. But sometimes, you have to deny it even of these necessities. There are some foods you cannot eat no matter the degree of hunger because it will be a defilement to you. Daniel purposed in his heart not to eat the king’s meat because it was first sacrificed to idols. There are some drinks that must not touch your mouth no matte

TOPIC: THE SECRET OF A PEACEFUL LIFE (3) – TRUST IN GOD          AUGUST Sunday 12th TEXT: Isaiah 26:3-4 KEY VERSE: Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Isaiah 12: 2 Your trust in God will give you peace. Faith in God will put your mind at rest. Jesus says in John 14:1, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me.” Is something troubling you or threatening your life? Put your faith in God and believe He will handle the situation to your satisfaction. Without God’s intervention, you have no hope because you have no power of your own to handle the situation. The faith and trust you have in God will give you peace, but if you continue to think about the problem that is threatening you it will give you fear. Do not start to think, “Can it be solved? Can it be done?” Just put your trust in God, have faith

TOPIC: SEEKING JESUS DILIGENTLY FOR YOUR SALVATION         AUGUST Saturday 11th TEXT: Matthew 7:7-8 KEY VERSE: Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; Acts 3: 19 The man who seeks shall find and this includes salvation. If you have not received, it is because you have not sought. 1. Don't say your sin is too much. The more the sin the more grace abounds (Romans 5:20). Any voice that tells you that you cannot be saved is of the devil. God is merciful. Your sin cannot be too much for the blood of Jesus to wash away. Consider the prodigal son. 2. Do not allow your position or pride to prevent you. Pride will prevent you from connecting to God and keep salvation far from you. Even God Himself is humble (Philippians 2:8). Cornelius was a high-ranking army officer yet he ignored his exalted position to seek salvation (Act

TOPIC: A DIFFERENT AGENDA         AUGUST Friday 10th TEXT: John 6:66-71 KEY VERSE: Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the Majesty of the LORD. Isaiah 26: 10 John 12:4-6, “Then saith one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray Him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.” In matters of eternal life, Judas had a different agenda. When many disciples deserted Jesus, Judas was among the twelve that remained, but not for eternal life. He remained because cheap money was available and nobody seemed to be checking his record. As holy as HOREMOW is, we still have in our midst people of questionable character like Judas.  Although Jesus allowed Jud

TOPIC: GENUINE SALVATION IN CHRIST FOR YOU          AUGUST Thursday 9th TEXT: John 8:30-32 KEY VERSE: And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Matthew 1: 21 There is a difference between genuine conversion and ordinary conversion. In ordinary conversion you confess Jesus quite alright and are committed to God's work, but you are still managing sin in your life. Until you bring the sin in your life to the altar of sacrifice your salvation is not yet complete. If you continue to think about your status in the church and therefore think it will be shameful to come out for altar call and be genuinely saved, you are merely deceiving yourself. Repent and be converted that your sin may be fully blotted out. Are you a pastor's wife or a coordinator's wife, but a witch? You need to repent so that you do not labour for God in vain. Genuine salvation can be

Mark 11: 22 Let your faith take you into eternity. When God speaks into your life, it is not for today alone. When God makes a promise, He keeps it for eternity. Psalm 119:89, “Forever, O LORD, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens.” If you believe the word of God for today alone, how does it work its fullness in your life? As the Lord has uttered His word and settled it in eternity, you also must believe and hold on to it till eternity. God had promised the Israelites through Abraham He would take them to the Promised Land. But He had also told them they would be in the land of slavery for four centuries. As prime minister of Egypt, the perks of office and comfort of Egypt was enough for Joseph to forget God's promise. But as a man of faith, he told his siblings, “God will surely

TOPIC: REMOVE THE OBSTACLE TO YOUR HEAVENLY RACE (3) – THE FLESH          AUGUST TUESDAY 7th TEXT: Galatians 5:16-21 KEY VERSE: Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul. 1 Peter 2: 11 The flesh is a big obstacle to your heavenly race. The flesh has its own desires called fleshly lusts and these desires war against the soul. 1 Peter 2:11, “Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul.” These lusts are fighting to ensure that you don't make it to heaven. Immorality, idolatry, witchcraft, pride, anger, intolerance, impatience, beauty, ego, class distinction, discrimination, alcohol and the like. Even eating food can cause a problem. TOPIC: YEARNING, SIGHING AND PRAYER FOR HOLY GHOST BAPTISM          AUGUST MONDAY 6th TEXT: Acts 2:1-4 KEY VERSE: Mathew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Yearning is a longing, hunger, thirsty or craving for something. Sighing is a frantic effort of a dying man to survive. Combined with prayer, this is the mood for receiving the Holy Ghost baptism. Baptism in the Holy Ghost is divine empowerment for service. The visible sign of Holy Ghost baptism is speaking in tongues. This must not be confused with the special gift of speaking in tongues & interpretation of tongues. The pre-requisite for Holy Ghost baptism is to be Born Again. Acts 19:2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? TOPIC: FEAR NOT           AUGUST SUNDAY 5th TEXT: Isaiah 41:13-14 KEY VERSE: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1: 7 Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain or a threat. Fear is amplified when we perceive that such a situation is beyond our capacity to contain or handle.  A barren woman fears that she would never have a child and her husband may eventually abandon her for another woman. A difficult financial situation may create fear of inability to shoulder family responsibilities and possibly ejection by the landlord or even the children being sent home from school for failure to pay their school fees. Circumstances that create fear will always arise, but our ability to continue to trust God in the face of life’s adversity is the only antidote to overcoming it. Knowing that nothing happens t

TOPIC: HEALING FROM ALL SICKNESSES          AUGUST SATURDAY 4th TEXT: Psalm 103:2-5 KEY VERSE: And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee. Exodus 15: 26 All that God made was good and perfect. The origin of sickness and disease is disobedience and sin. Before the fall, there was no sickness and disease. It was sin that introduced infirmity and brought pains and death.  Sometimes, God permits his children to be afflicted to test their righteousness or stir them into prayer. TOPIC: WOMEN ARE ALSO CALLED INTO MINISTRY          AUGUST FRIDAY 3rd  TEXT: Judges 4:4-5 KEY VERSE: And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. Jeremiah 3: 15 The call into ministry is not gender-specific. The woman is called just as the man without any limitation in the service of God. As pastors, women can even administer church discipline to the erring ones. Deborah, Huldah were female pastors by divine call. She must do it without fear of person or tradition of men. Yet she must not become proud or usurp the authority of man in the church (Philippians 2:3). God ministers to the need of His people using both male and female ministers. Miriam was a prophetess who spoke of God to men (Numbers 12:1-2; Micah 6:3-4). Deborah was also a prophetess and judge in Israel. Both men and women came to Deborah for judgment and she taught them the truth, the word of God and word o
