HOLINESS REVIVAL MOVEMENT WORLDWIDE HOREMOW
DAILY DEVOTIONAL BY PASTOR PAUL RIKA INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR.
DATE: SATURDAY JULY 11, 2026.
TOPIC: APPEARANCE AND MODESTY OF A HOLY CHRISTIAN
TEXT: ISAIAH 3:16 - 24
16. Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
17. Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.
18. In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,
19. The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
20. The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
21. The rings, and nose jewels,
22. The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,
23. The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.
24. And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
KEY VERSE: JEREMIAH 4:30. And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.
QUESTION: Sir, please, I have three questions. Is it sinful to use powder for babies, children and even adults for rashes? Is weaving or plaiting with thread a sin? Is it right for a woman to be cutting her hair?
ANSWER: To use powder for your children to arrest heat or rashes is not wrong. To use medicated powder while at home is not wrong but do not paint or decorate your face with powder which is part of the appearance of a harlot.
The aim of this painting is to arrive at a smooth, beautiful, and attractive appearance. That is wicked and evil. You may say my own is not like that, I sweat a lot. Are you the only person God made in this world that sweats? We also sweat, but we do not use powder? Those who do so desire to achieve something else; artificial beauty. Avoid this as a Christian.
Concerning the second question, there is nothing wrong with modest weaving or plaiting with simple thread as long as you are not worldly in your design. Thread has been in use for many years before the use of attachment began. There is nothing wrong with plaiting or weaving neatly with simple thread, but not in the fashion of this present world.
Finally, about the cutting of hair, it is not a feminine habit in our African community for a woman to cut her hair. However, in case something is wrong, there may be injury on your head or may be you permed it and you want to remove it for natural hair growth, you may cut your hair but cover it in public so that you can appear feminine in society. In this way, your glory is maintained as a woman in the society. Cover it up with a scarf.
