TOPIC: REASONS FOR RESTITUTION 1 – IT IS A COMMANDMENT
TEXT: Job 42:7-8
KEY VERSE: Genesis 20:7 Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.

Restitution is an important aspect of the life of a Christian who is saved, who is led to the Lord in true repentance and conversion. A Christian who is saved still needs to examine himself for the journey to heaven. The number one reason why restitution is necessary is because God said so. In Genesis 20:7 God said, “Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.” This is a commandment which the Lord gave to Abimelech and to everybody who has done wrong. If you find yourself erring or you have done wrong, or you have stolen something that is not yours, you should restore it so that you will have a clear conscience and straighten your relationship with God. Therefore, restitution is not just a human idea but a scriptural commandment. God desires in his fair judgment that those who are hurt by our actions are pacified and comforted. Through this, relational frictions and discord are minimized and broken relationships are restored.

We see this again in today’s reading text with regards to Job’s friends. They had defamed Job’s character, which is what we know in our secular laws as “defamation of character.” Because the friends of Job accused him wrongly and spoke to him harshly, the Lord commanded them to retract what they had said and apologize so that he could pray for them. This is similar to God’s commandment to Abimelech to restitute to Abraham so that Abraham could pray for him for the curse of God upon his kingdom to be lifted. As a commandment of God, restitution is something that should not be ignored or handled carelessly. It is good we know this because these things are not being taught in most of the churches. In fact, you hardly hear about them because the ministers who are supposed to teach them are finding it difficult to do their own restitutions.

Thought for the day: When you do your restitution, you are being obedient to God.
Song for the day: I am ready to obey Thy word…….
Bible reading for the day: Exodus 31-33; Matthew 22:23-46.

August Tuesday 27th TOPIC: CORRECT WATER BAPTISM TEXT: Mark 16:15-16 KEY VERSE: Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. The believer requires water baptism. The baptism that Jesus commanded is in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. It is done by immersion in water because the three Persons are One. In Acts of the Apostles, the people were baptizing in the name of Jesus. They used the phrase “in the name of Jesus” to indicate that the baptism was carried out as authorized by Jesus, and the baptism authorized by Jesus is that which is done in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. It is not to say that they dip people in water and say, “I baptize you in the name of Jesus.” The name of Jesus cannot represent the Godhead. The Father is not Jesus, the Holy Spirit is not Jesus, Jesus is God who be
