Christian Virtues To Covet In Daniel, Shedrach, Meshach And Abednego
Friday 13th February
Text: Daniel 1:1- 8, 15-20
Key Verse: Daniel 3:16. Shedrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
Daniel, Meshach, Meshach and Abednego were specially blessed with knowledge, wisdom and understanding by faith in God. They emerged ten times better than their colleagues. God gave them wisdom that could not be equalled. They believed in their God, and all manner of accusations that were levelled against them could not deter them. You may be surrounded by many enemies, but if you have faith in God for your deliverance, you will have it. Faith in God and living a holy and righteous life attracted the presence of God to remove the devouring power in the lions when Daniel was thrown into the lions’ den. Lions are known to be hunters who go after their prey, and to have gotten one freely in their den was a blessing for them, but God shut the mouth of the lions overnight in their den. A heathen king who is an unbeliever assured Daniel, a just man, that the God whom Daniel was serving continually would deliver him from the lion’s den. Daniel’s faith in God was so prominent that an unbelieving king could notice it. How is your faith? Can people testify about your faith in your workplace, in your family, in your church, in your neighbourhood, etc.?
What about the case of the remaining Jewish children, Meshach, Shedrach and Abednego, who were thrown into the burning furnace? Faith in God and courage moved Jesus Christ to remove the consuming power of fire before they were thrown into it. The king said he saw four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and the form of the fourth was like the Son of God. The invisible personality that goes about with the righteous people, delivering them from physical and spiritual attacks, accidents, and wrong accusations, is the Lord Jesus Christ. Are you righteous, without sin? If you are in sin, you are just a prey in the hands of Satan to devour. Just ensure you live a holy and sinless life.
