TOPIC: YOU AND YOUR HEART

TEXT:  Psalm 58:2-3

Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.  The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

KEY VERSE: Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

There's something you need to understand about your heart. You are a complete system and your heart is part of that system. The heart in you is like the engine in a vehicle. The vehicle has various parts such as the tyre, the windscreen, lights and all but it also has an engine.

The various parts of the vehicle are all built into the body. Of all the body parts, the engine can be singled out and treated as the life of the car. If the engine is in sound condition, the whole vehicle is sound and it can take you anywhere you are going.

So the car engine matters a lot. But when we look at different vehicles, engines differ in grades and capacities. Some engines are lower in strength than others. But you can fortify it. You can renew it. You can upgrade it. In fact, the engine can be replaced.

Now, I want you to look at yourself. You have your heart like the engine of a car. You can work on your heart. God can also work on your heart. The devil can work on your heart. Again, I want you to understand that you can influence your heart.

Human beings around you can also influence your heart. See what the scripture says concerning the heart in today’s key verse: “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” The heart must be kept with diligence because out of it are the issues of life.

It is like the engine that pumps fuel and combusts to enable the vehicle move. The heart produces the things that regulate the man’s conduct in life. That scripture says, “Keep your heart.” It is like this scripture is speaking to somebody and it is making the person know that the heart can be controlled by him.

Again, it says, “With all diligence.”  It means that person can exert energy by himself to control the heart. That person can do something to keep the heart. We can see that the scripture separates you from your heart. You can keep your heart under your control. You can be master over your heart.

Thought for the day: The condition of your heart is the condition of your life.

Song for the day: Come and make my heart Your home, come and be….

Bible reading for the day: Exodus 13-15; Matthew 19:1-15

KEY VERSE: It came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said, Lord, teach us how to pray as John taught his disciples. Luke 11: 1. When Jesus Christ came to us in the flesh, He went into the business of prayer because He was promoting the attribute of God as a prayer-answering God. He would not render that attribute idle or redundant. Nobody knew how John did it, but Jesus reveals here that the success you saw in the ministry of John the Baptist, the victory you saw in his ministry, is because he was a prayer man. John so much valued prayer. He saw the essentials of pr...
