DON’T JUDGE A MATTER BASED ON ONE-SIDED REPORT – Part 1

For taking your time to study remain blessed.

TOPIC: DON’T JUDGE A MATTER BASED ON ONE-SIDED REPORT – Part 1        September Tuesday 1st

TEXT: 2 Kings 19: 24-27

KEY VERSE: Proverbs 18:17 He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.

If there is a conflict between two people or two groups, in order to keep yourself pure and undefiled, follow Bible principles before you begin to pass judgment. Often, he that comes and speaks to you first will appear correct, righteous and perfect but that may not be true. His fault will only be seen when the other party comes and narrates his own side of the story. Have this understanding so that you are not easily moved to rush into hasty conclusion and judgment. He came first and told you, “Do you know what he did to me? He did this, he did that; he said this, he said that,” and you are just responding with surprise and indignation at the other party.

It is normal for men to profess their own goodness and innocence while they hide their faults. A faithful man who can find? Who is that person that comes to you and say, “Do you know why the church disciplined me? I stole their money. I broke into the store and stole the properties of the church. I set fire on one of the church buildings to cover up my sin.” Who will tell you that? He would rather say, “I don’t know what I did to them o. They said I stole money and I didn’t know anything about it.” That is man for you. He will not tell you his fault, he will not tell you the truth; he will not confess his sins. Rather, he will present himself blameless.

If you are not careful you will become guilty of miscarriage of justice as you apportion blame to the righteous and set the guilty free. In today’s reading text, we see how Ziba lied to king David about his master Mephibosheth and David, without making any effort to crosscheck the facts, passed judgment transferring all that belonged to Mephibosheth to his servant. Unknown to David, Ziba had lied to the king in order to inherit the estate of his master. The whole truth only came to light when Mephibosheth later came down to meet the king. He had neither dressed his feet, trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he returned from self-exile. It was then David learnt how Ziba had abandoned Mephibosheth because he was lame only to turn round to slander him (2 Kings 19:24-27). Therefore, learn to hear all facts before passing judgment.

Thought for the day: Never be in a haste to pass judgment without hearing from both parties.

Song for the day: Be like Jesus, everyday in your life……

Bible reading for the day: Psalm 148-150; 1 Corinthians 11:16-34

For taking your time to study remain blessed. August Tuesday 27th TOPIC: CORRECT WATER BAPTISM TEXT: Mark 16:15-16 KEY VERSE: Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. The believer requires water baptism. The baptism that Jesus commanded is in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. It is done by immersion in water because the three Persons are One. In Acts of the Apostles, the people were baptizing in the name of Jesus. They used the phrase “in the name of Jesus” to indicate that the baptism was carried out as authorized by Jesus, and the baptism authorized by Jesus is that which is done in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. It is not to say that they dip people in water and say, “I baptize you in the name of Jesus.” The name of Jesus cannot represent the Godhead. The Father is not Jesus, the Holy Spirit is not Jesus, Jesus is God who be
