TOPIC: QUESTION AND ANSWER SERIES - TITHING January Tuesday 7th
TEXT: Malachi 3: 8-12
KEY VERSE: Malachi 3:4 Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years.
QUESTION: Some people say tithe should only be paid to churches where one worships. I need clarification.
ANSWER: If the church of God is one, then your payment of tithe is not limited to one place. Those people that say your tithes should only be paid to where you worship have not understood the scripture well or are probably being selfish. For instance, most of those being blessed through Holiness Revival Movement (HOREMOW) belong to different churches. Do we now say because HOREMOW is non-denominational you cannot pay tithe to her? If everybody limits his tithe payment to his or her denominational church, how do non-denominational ministries render their service? How do missionaries go into the world and carry out the Great Commission of saving souls? Does bible not say, money answereth all things? If the pastor in your denominational church is a human being, so are pastors coordinating Holiness Revival Movement activities. They too have stomachs to eat and need clothes to wear. If you refuse to give money to HOREMOW because your church compels you to pay all tithes to them, how do we in HOREMOW produce materials for evangelism and revival? How do we fund conferences that have been profiting many souls? Apart from non-denominational churches, God can even lead you to give your tithe to another denominational church or to split your tithe between different Christian assemblies because all belong to one and the same God.
Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house. From this scripture, we can see that the storehouse is God’s house. Is this house of God a building or does it refer to redeemed souls all over the world? Bible says in Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” From this scripture, we could see that the house of God is where people gather to do things that bring glory to God. These are things that save humanity from sin and death; that edify mankind; that build people up into spiritual maturity in Christ and things that overcome the devil and depopulate his kingdom. In other words, everywhere that God’s children meet together for fellowship is the house of God. Therefore, bring your tithe to such places so that there may be enough spiritual meal for people to eat. Apart from cost of evangelism, there are other administrative and operational costs such as payment of workers’ salaries and allowances, repairs and maintenance of building, vehicles and equipment, costs of fueling, lighting, transportation, telephone, electricity and water bills that have to be taken care of.
Thought for the day: Every true gathering of saints can receive your tithe whether denominational or not.
Song for the day: We bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the Lord….
Bible reading for the day: Genesis 18-19; Matthew 6

August Tuesday 27th TOPIC: CORRECT WATER BAPTISM TEXT: Mark 16:15-16 KEY VERSE: Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. The believer requires water baptism. The baptism that Jesus commanded is in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. It is done by immersion in water because the three Persons are One. In Acts of the Apostles, the people were baptizing in the name of Jesus. They used the phrase “in the name of Jesus” to indicate that the baptism was carried out as authorized by Jesus, and the baptism authorized by Jesus is that which is done in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. It is not to say that they dip people in water and say, “I baptize you in the name of Jesus.” The name of Jesus cannot represent the Godhead. The Father is not Jesus, the Holy Spirit is not Jesus, Jesus is God who be
