TOPIC: OFFER YOUR BEST TO GOD IN RETURN FOR HIS GOODNESS
TEXT: Ezekiel 16:8-15
KEY VERSE: Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent.

God has always offered you the best in life, so you too ought to give back to Him the best of your life in appreciation.  In the beginning, God created you in a special way, fearfully and wonderfully in His own very image. He made you a replica of Himself, even though you are a lower being. That is great and wonderful indeed. Adam and Eve, our progenitors, messed up and corrupted their beings thereby making themselves liable to death and eternal damnation. God did not abandon them to their fate. He came to their rescue by instituting a redemption plan through Jesus (John 3:16). God has always been there for you, offering you the best of life even when you don't deserve it. In today’s reading text, we see a metaphor of God’s rescue plan and display of love for sinful Israel. The ornaments of gold and silver mentioned in this passage are not physical objects but symbols of God’s loving care and protection.

Ezekiel 16:15 But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was. In this text, God is opening a charge of infidelity against you, as He did against Israel, who repaid Him evil for the all His goodness. What offence has God committed that He deserves such treatment from you? He could have killed you as a sinner, but He purposely extends your days on earth, so that He may show the bountifulness of His love and mercy, giving you more grace to repent. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. You colluded with Satan to contend against God and to oppose His kingdom on earth, but He is not discouraged. He is still stretching out His hand of fellowship asking you to repent and return to Him. Now, why don’t you live to please God. It is not as if God needs you to exist; rather, it is you that needs God to live. God is not the beneficiary of your righteousness, you are!

Thought for the day: Your righteousness is for you own good, not God’s benefit.  (Job 22:2-3).
Song for the day: Create in me a clean heart o Lord, and renew a right spirit within me
Bible reading for the day: 2 Chronicles 23-25; John 16:16-33

KEY VERSE: It came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said, Lord, teach us how to pray as John taught his disciples. Luke 11: 1. When Jesus Christ came to us in the flesh, He went into the business of prayer because He was promoting the attribute of God as a prayer-answering God. He would not render that attribute idle or redundant. Nobody knew how John did it, but Jesus reveals here that the success you saw in the ministry of John the Baptist, the victory you saw in his ministry, is because he was a prayer man. John so much valued prayer. He saw the essentials of pr...
