TRUE WORSHIP IS SEEN IN OBEDIENCE TO GOD’S COMMANDMENTS

TOPIC: TRUE WORSHIP IS SEEN IN OBEDIENCE TO GOD’S COMMANDMENTS   July Thursday 16th
TEXT: Romans 8:5-8
KEY VERSE: John 6:63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. 

The words of God are spiritual words. They are words of eternal life. Therefore, to worship God in spirit, be born again. To worship God in truth, follow the word of God and put the word into practice. It is only then you can say you are worshipping the Lord. There is this ecstatic singing and dancing people go into in the erroneous belief that they are worshipping God. That is the flesh at work. It is satanic deceit to spend time exercising yourself in rigorous dancing after which you have a false sense of feeling that you have worshipped God. God is not in the flesh as to be delighted or moved by your dance steps and body vibrations. Rather, He is delighted by your practice of His word. Many people in error spend their time singing and dancing, thinking with much songs and dance, they are worshiping God. Singing is good and part of worship but it is not what constitutes worship. The first thing must be done before singing follows. Otherwise, your singing is not worship. God is not in the flesh to be delighted by the lyrics of your song.   

Psalm 119:7  I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments. Can you see that singing is second place to the word in worship? God is seeking such. Singing does not make you spiritual. What makes a man spiritual is when he is after the things of the spirit. He is regenerated by the Spirit and he is following the word of truth, practicing the word of truth that will give him the uprightness of heart, that will give him righteousness of heart, that will give him holiness of heart, then he can sing. That song is called spiritual song. Otherwise, don’t think when you get up and start singing, or you start dancing, you are worshipping God. No! God is a Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth by being born again and by practicing the word. Bible says, “Sanctify them by thy word, thy word is truth.” Jesus said, “The word that I speak to you they are spirit and they are life.” The word of God that you practice, follow and obey is real worship. Submit to the word, obey the commandments and other things like singing and dancing can follow. 

Thought for the day: Real worship is obedience to the commandment of God.
