THE ABUSE OF ANOINTING OIL IN THE CHURCH

For taking your time to study remain blessed.
TOPIC: THE ABUSE OF ANOINTING OIL IN THE CHURCH July Thursday 30th
TEXT: Exodus 30:22-31
KEY VERSE: Exodus 30:32 Upon man's flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you.

In today’s reading text, we can see that anointing oil was made specifically to anoint Aaron, his children and instruments of the tabernacle. It didn’t go beyond that. It ended with the use of the tabernacle. In fact, it was not the anointing oil used for normal rubbing of the body. It was not the anointing oil used as a healing balm. In today’s key verse, we see the Lord instruct that nobody makes any other like it. God gave this specific commandment because He had foreseen replication and abuse of the anointing oil. Anointing oil was never used to anoint any prophet in Israel. Moses was not anointed with oil. Joshua who took over from him was not anointed with oil. Samuel used it on Saul for kingship, but Samuel himself as a prophet was not anointed with oil. Looking at all the prophets of old, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Elijah, Elisha etc., none was anointed with oil for commission into office. When Elisha was taking over from Elijah, was he anointed with oil? All through the old testament, no prophet was anointed with oil. Who then was anointed with oil? It was only the kings. Why? The prophets were chosen by the Holy Ghost.

The Bible says the prophets spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.  Since the Holy Ghost had come upon them, they didn’t need anointing oil to be commissioned into office. Anointing oil put upon the priest was a symbol of the Holy Spirit. Why? The priesthood office was by family succession. But office of the prophet was not by natural succession. It is whomever the Holy Spirit chooses. And since the Holy Spirit has come upon him, anointing is needless. When the main Person has come, the shadow is no more required. In the Old Testament, there was no instance that a prophet anointed anybody with oil for the purpose of praying for him.  Whether he was sick, or he wanted breakthrough, there was no instance like that. When Elisha was to decree a child for the Shunammite woman, did he anoint the woman with oil? When the woman eventually gave birth to a son and he died, did Elisha anoint the child with oil to raise him up from the dead? In a similar scenario, did Elijah use oil to bring the son of the widow of Zeraphat back to life? This means the way the anointing oil is used in our time is even strange to the old testament.

Thought for the day: There are many strange practices in today’s church. Do not be part of it.
Song for the day: Give me that old time religion……
Bible reading for the day: Psalm 59-61; Acts 28:16-31

Signs And Wonders Should Be According To Biblical Pattern

God's blessings shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Signs And Wonders Should Be According To Biblical Pattern Text: Mark 16: 17 – 20 Wednesday May 8th Key verse: Obadiah 17 “Upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.” God has prepared to direct us on holy service unto Himself. He tells us when the lives and services of people are corrupt because from the heart of men proceed the works they do. When people are righteous and holy, their service is also righteous and holy. Hence, the word says, make the people holy then their service will be holy, so if you accept to live a life of holiness, then the fruit of your service will be holy. So, it is very important to accept the life of holiness because the God that made you is holy; He will give you grace to be holy. You just make up your mind to be holy. Do not accept that no man can be holy; then Jesus came for nothing, Jes...

God’s Extra Effort In Restoring The Backslider

God's blessings shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. God’s Extra Effort In Restoring The Backslider  Sunday May 12th Text: Jeremiah 3: 15 – 17 Key verse: Ezekiel 33: 11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel.  Receive the word that will change you, restore you, reestablish you and give you back the hope of eternal life. Come back! The Lord is pleading. Can you see the effort of God in your life? And can you see madness in your life; resisting every effort God is making. God is calling you. Retrace your ways. Follow the good old way. Go and confess those things, do not keep them. Your problem is, you want to serve God but you have not confessed your sins openly because of shame, fear and  pride which shall be dissolved in hell. That is where your problem is. Yes, you wa...
