THE WRONG AND RIGHT ATTITUDES IN MARRIAGE

For taking your time to study remain blessed.
TOPIC: THE WRONG AND RIGHT ATTITUDES IN MARRIAGE           July Wednesday 15th
TEXT: Colossians 3:10-17
KEY VERSE: Ephesians 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Evil character in a marriage does not give room for true love to operate. Rather, it puts marriage in contention. Some of the characters that manifest in such marriage include:

1. Anger. Easily provoked and intolerant. Proverbs 22:24 Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go. This is a serious problem, because the partner is not just a friend but a wife or a husband.
2. Lying. This makes the person untrustworthy and hard to be believed because lying is known to be his or her second nature. If he or she says good morning, you may need to check outside to be sure it not night already.
3. Hatred. It runs in your family and you continued in it. Your partner shows love but you respond with hatred. He buys you gift, but you pay back with insults. Instead of you to be grateful to God, you envy your wife because she earns more.
4. Witchcraft. The woman gets initiated to manipulate or punish her husband. She has hijacked the headship arrangement of God. God's judgment is upon her. You are angry because your husband did not consult you before taking some decisions. Did Abraham consult Sarah before he took Isaac to offer as sacrifice? Why fight for yourself? Why not take your case to God?
5. Suspicion. You are always suspecting your partner. Never trusting. That is an unclean spirit. You are fully convinced on lies. You need deliverance!
6. Never Appreciative. You are always complaining. Why push your spouse to steal or cheat in order to satisfy your appetite?

Some marriages have ended in divorce (which God forbids) as a result of these sins. What God now desires from you are found in today’s reading text (Colossians 3:10-17). Kill that pride in you that makes you look down on your partner. If you don't think too highly of yourself, you will not look down on your partner. Jesus says of Himself, “I am meek and lowly of heart.” Learn meekness and longsuffering. Be patient and show longer tolerance, trusting that God will settle the matter between you and your spouse. Be forgiving and ignore offences. Don't be too pained by offences. Don't be vengeful. Show love to your partner. Genuine love is devoid of hypocrisy. Promote peace. Learn to say sorry when you are wrong. And finally, be thankful always.

Thought for the day: A marriage guided by biblical principles will withstand all storms and endure.
Song for the day: Lord give us Christian homes…..
Bible reading for the day:

KEY VERSE: It came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said, Lord, teach us how to pray as John taught his disciples. Luke 11: 1. When Jesus Christ came to us in the flesh, He went into the business of prayer because He was promoting the attribute of God as a prayer-answering God. He would not render that attribute idle or redundant. Nobody knew how John did it, but Jesus reveals here that the success you saw in the ministry of John the Baptist, the victory you saw in his ministry, is because he was a prayer man. John so much valued prayer. He saw the essentials of pr...
