(Continued from yesterday)

I boarded a commercial vehicle to Gwagwalada town motor park and after alighting, I had to wait for another one that would take me to Kwali where the campground is located. As I waited, I saw a cigarette seller and was tempted to smoke. As I made to go and buy, my mind told me if you smoke you will be smelling cigarettes. Another voice said if you drink soda water nobody will know, so I looked for soda water but could not get one. Meanwhile, I was still waiting for a commercial vehicle to Kwali, so I walked a bit forward and asked for soda water. As I was about paying for it, I heard a shout of “Kwali, Kwali,” which signaled the arrival of a Kwali-bound vehicle. I abandoned the soda water and ran to the vehicle. I got to camp before the programme started in the evening and I started feeling like smoking. I said in my mind, let me go round to see if this place they call holy ground will sell cigarettes or not. I looked everywhere but no cigarettes. I said to myself, “How will I stay without smoking?” Then I resolved within myself, “If I don’t smoke in this place today, I will never smoke in my life again.”

The programme finished that night and I went to sleep. The next morning, I went to take my bath but people were many and there were not enough buckets to fetch water, so I decided to go outside the camp. I found a place where you pay money to bath and noticed some cigarette sellers and smokers in the vicinity. I took my bath and came out but to my greatest surprise, I was irritated by the smell of cigarette smoke coming out from there. I returned to the camp as Pastor Rika finished his message and I joined others for the altar call.  There and then, I covenanted with God that I will never smoke again in my life. After returning back home from conference, anytime the urge to smoke came I would remind myself of the promise I made to God.  My friends were surprised by my change. I want to thank God for delivering me from the spirit of smoking which I thought I could never overcome. Jesus did it for me and since then, I have not gone back to it. Praise God for His mercy!

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
