TOPIC: DILIGENT PURSUIT FOR CHRIST'S SALVATION 
JULY MONDAY 9th
TEXT: Philippians 3:12-15
KEY VERSE: Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Philippians 2: 12
What is salvation? Salvation is the first work of grace that God has done to mankind. It is the gift of God. It came by the sacrifice of God. It is full and free. We only need to confess and forsake our sins and believe in Christ to obtain salvation. God has revealed Himself and told you all you need to be saved. Harden not your heart, but consider yourself to be privileged. The Psalmist wrote in Psalm 139:23-24, Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Examine yourself because you may be fervent in prayer and diligent in service but if any of these remain in your life, you are not ready for heaven. Every sin in your life is a hindrance to salvation and must be done away with.
Galatians 5:19-21, “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these ; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Sins listed in the above texts are evidence of an unconverted soul. Lying is a common sin people take for granted yet no liar will inherit the kingdom of God. Nothing that defiles will enter there. Anger and rage will debar you from heaven. You must have control over your temperament otherwise you have foreclosed the possibility of heaven. You must be able to withstand provocation as proof of your genuine conversion. 99.9% performance or compliance is not enough. Malice, gossiping, backbiting are common sins but very harmful to the soul. These must not be found in you. Purify yourself! Immorality covers many things and is not limited to sexual immorality. It includes seductive dressing, using bad language, living a wayward life etc. and all these must be avoided. Stubbornness, disobedience and rebellion will prevent you from going to heaven. Do not harden your heart against God.
