TEXT: MISREABLE COMFORTERS
JULY SATURDAY 28th

TEXT: 2 Corinthians 1:1-7

KEY VERSE: I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all. Job 16: 2

Comfort is something needed especially in times of trouble and tribulation. You need comforting words and encouragement to lift up your dampened spirit. A bereaved woman that has just lost her husband or child needs to be comforted so that her pain of loss can be reduced. A man that has just lost his job needs comforting words to give him hope and let him know that it is not the end of the world. Men rally round during times of calamity to provide comfort, which to some extent are helpful. However, the best source of comfort at this time is the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of Jesus is the Spirit of comfort.  John 14:16, “And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever.” As our High Priest, Jesus knows our pains and understands what we are passing through even more than us, so He is able to sympathize with us in times of need. Hebrews 4:15-16 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Men may attempt to provide comfort, but not like Jesus. The comfort from Jesus is a genuine comfort that has no deception, lie or hypocrisy in it. The comfort of men may be deceptive. During the period of Job's tribulation, he had three friends that came visiting to comfort him, but they turned out to be miserable comforters and mockers. Rather than soothe his pains, they were rubbing salt on his injury. It would have been better if they had kept quiet but they choose to pass judgment on righteous job. They were making comments on what they had little or no knowledge of. That's man for you. The person you are running to for comfort may be the person behind your problem. This person will be the first to arrive your home to sympathize with you, but it is a lie. He will weep with you but mock you at the back. Don't rely too much on men. Make the Holy Spirit your comforter and counsellor. Take your burden to Jesus and He will lift it off, He will wipe away your tears and put a smile on your face.

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
