Samson Killed A Lion With His Hands
Saturday 8th November
TEXT: Judges 14:5-6
Key verse: 2 Corinthians 13:8 “For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.”
A lion roared at Samson but he was not afraid. As the lion rushed at him, the Holy Spirit came upon Samson. He got hold of the lion and tore it. It is the prerogative of God; the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Samson must not meet another lion and say, “I killed a lion with my bare hands so I will handle this one with my bare hands.” Do not try it. Did the Holy Spirit come on you? Did you receive inspiration of the Holy Spirit? Why are you presumptuous? Why do you imagine great things to your hurt because of your pride? The miracle happened by the Spirit of God.
A story was told of an elderly woman that when a vehicle knocked down her grandchild and the tire of the vehicle was on this child, she rushed to the vehicle, lifted it up and removed her child. Everybody was surprised. Mama, are you a powerful woman? I am a normal woman as you are. But how did you do this? How many people can lift up a vehicle the way you did? I cannot tell. Definitely God wanted to save that child and since God can do everything, He put the power in that woman. With great provocation, sympathy and passion, she rushed without even thinking, lifted up the vehicle and brought out the child. Now, if you say that she is a mighty woman, tell her to lift up another vehicle. Can she do it? No! So, do not be presumptuous by thinking that you can perform miracles. There must be humility.
Note that there were sick people that Jesus did not talk about? He was not moved to heal them. At the pool of Bethsaida, He healed only one person and left. What about the lame man that was laid daily at the gate in the temple? Did Jesus not pass there several times? You must leave some things until God says so. It is not in you. That is why Joseph told pharaoh, “It is not in me. God will give pharaoh interpretation for his dream.” The fact that I interpreted dreams for your two servants does not mean I have power to interpret every dream. It is God that gave me the interpretation.
Thought for the day: You must leave some things until God says so.
