For taking your time to study remain blessed.
IS YOUR NAME WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE?
April Wednesday 11th
Text: Matthew 7:21-23
Key Verse: “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:15.
It is not enough to work for God, you must walk with Him. Working for God without a relationship with Him is like studying in the university without registering your courses for the semester. No matter how hard you studied and how well you performed in the semester exams you are in for a complete carry over. The same thing applies when you labour in God's vineyard without first establishing a relationship with God. The Book of Life is the first reference point for the recognition of works and reward in heaven. Any steward whose name is missing in the Book of Life only labours in vain. To such stewards Jesus would say, “I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” About twenty-four years after God called out Abram into service (Genesis 12), his walk with God was less than perfect. He lived a life of lies and compromise. God had to let him know He is not like the small gods that are served in sin. If he wanted to receive the promise, he must live a holy and perfect life. And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. Genesis 17:1-2.
Backsliders who die in their sin have great regrets in hell. One of such is the realization that they had laboured for God in vain. “When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.” Judas laboured as a disciple but ended his life in hell. The Bible has this to say about the closing chapter of his life: “Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus. For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry. For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.” Acts 1:16-17, 20.
Thought for the day: Forsake sin. It is the only thing that can take your name out of the Book of Life.
Song for the day: I want to live eternal life Lord save my soul
Bible reading for the day:
1Samuel 7-9; Luke 13:1-21
