KNOW THE GOD YOU ARE SERVING – PART 1
April Sunday 15
Text:  Revelation 3:17-18
Key Verse: Luke 3:8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

There are many strange gods people worship in the world either out of ignorance or as a deliberate choice. The bible speaks of Apostle Paul’s encounter with an ancient Greek audience who were so superstitious and idolatrous that they even erected altar for an UNKNOWN GOD (Acts 17:23). Many Christians today are also worshipping an unknown God. They have created their own Jesus to whom they pour libation of praise and worship, which will take them nowhere. Unrepentant sinners in the church are serving their father, the Devil, not Jesus the Holy God. Jesus is not a minister of sin. Galatians 2:17  But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.

Many in the church are serving a God they do not know. Rom 10:1-2  Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. 2  For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. The true God whose root name is YAHWEH is holy and cannot be worshipped or served in sin. Habakkuk 1:13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he? Sin in the life of a Christian is like a bad extra tyre that cannot take you far. A sinning Christian cannot go far with God.

Until you know God in the true sense you cannot be saved. John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. This is the problem with today’s Christianity. They are busy with miracles, but do not know God. They are busy speaking in tongues, but do not know God. They are busy building marbled cathedrals, but do not know God. Knowing God means living in total obedience to his command. Knowing God means living a life of purity and holiness. 1 John 2:3-5  And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments Is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5  But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

Thought for the day: If you know Him, you will keep His commandments.
Song for the day: Don’t be tired in your works …. Faith … prayer
Bible reading for the day: 1 Samuel 17-18; Luke 15:1-10

KEY VERSE: It came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said, Lord, teach us how to pray as John taught his disciples. Luke 11: 1. When Jesus Christ came to us in the flesh, He went into the business of prayer because He was promoting the attribute of God as a prayer-answering God. He would not render that attribute idle or redundant. Nobody knew how John did it, but Jesus reveals here that the success you saw in the ministry of John the Baptist, the victory you saw in his ministry, is because he was a prayer man. John so much valued prayer. He saw the essentials of pr...
