TOPIC: IMPORTANCE OF PRAYER

TEXT: Matthew 7:7-11

Key verse: Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

Why do I need to pray? Doesn't God know what I need and should give me?
Doesn't God see what my enemies are doing and should intervene? Doesn't God see my afflictions and should just do something about it? That's is the mystery of prayer. Jesus, though God in human form, prayed. Didn't God know His needs? Did He need to talk with the Father? Is He not one with the Father? Father, were you not the one that sent Jesus to the world? That's the mystery of prayer.

If Jesus would pray to His Father, who would have an excuse not to pray? We must not think because God knows our needs he must automatically meet them. Read Jeremiah 29:11-12. In this text, God says I know what to give to you but I'm waiting for you to pray. It means there is something in prayer that God is waiting for before He gives. When you go into the restaurant, the waiter knows you need food but he will not serve you until you make your request. You must request from God to receive.

God knows you need food but he keeps the food and waits for your prayer. Does God not know that you need healing? He keeps the spiritual medicine and waits for you to pray. Does God not know that you need deliverance from the hands of the enemy? He keeps the victory and expects you to pray. Even Jesus had to pray when He was troubled about the impending pain and death on the cross.

He prayed so fervently that the sweat coming down from his body were like drops of blood Luke 22:44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. Satan is troubling you and you are not praying? The enemy is denying you your daily bread and you won't pray? You have been jobless as a graduate for three years; won't you pray? You are of marriageable age but no partner is forthcoming and you think you don't need prayer?

The early church took prayer seriously (Acts 1:14). Not praying is a sin. The Apostles observed hours of prayer (Acts 3:1). Prayer delivered Peter (Acts 12:5-12). Leaders must pray to keep victory (Acts 6:4). You ought to pray always; praying without ceasing (1Thessalonians 5:17). Pray at night vigil, engage in personal prayer retreat.

Thought for the day: Prayer is the information highway to heaven.

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
