GOD IS ALSO A CONSUMING FIRE
APRIL 2nd
TEXT: 1 PETER 4:17-19
KEY VERSE: “For our God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:29

God is called by many names and described in many ways. One of the prominent and unique names of God is LOVE. God is love (1 John 4:8). God is also known to be compassionate, merciful, gracious and longsuffering. But that is not to say that God is tolerant of sin, rebellion and iniquity. His patience and forbearance with the sinner is to give him time to repent and return to him and not to continue to grow in sin and wickedness (2 Peter 3:9). Experience from scripture has shown that those who take the grace of God for granted and continue to indulge in sin will eventually face God’s wrath. 1 Corinthians 10:8-12 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. 9  Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. 10  Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. 11  Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. 12  Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Often, sinners and backsliders tend to be carried away by the richness of God’s goodness and erroneously conclude that God is too loving and compassionate to damn a soul to hell. Many are misled by Satan who whispers to them, “It does not matter; everybody does it; God will understand.” Will God actually understand? Will He not call the wicked to account? The psalmist pondered this question, “Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? He hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it” (Psalm 10:13). The judgment of God is as sure as His salvation. Hebrews 10:30-31 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Heaven and hell are eternal realities. It is the height of self-delusion to imagine that hell does not exist or to think that sinners will escape God’s righteous judgment. The experience of hell is beyond human description. The fear of hell should make sinners run to God. The bible describes the end of the wicked in hell thus: “And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.” Do not take the grace of God for granted. Repent today and escape the wrath that will soon fall on all the disobedient.

Thought for the day:  God’s delayed judgment is an opportunity for you to repent, not to continue in sin. Repent today, confess Jesus and receive eternal life.
Song for the day: Trust and obey

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
