DO NOT FOLLOW THE CROWD, THEY ARE NOT ALWAYS RIGHT – PART 1
April 12th
Text: Proverbs 3:5-8
Key Text: Exodus 23:2 Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil.
Among men, it is generally believed that whatever the majority of people are doing is right so they want to follow the crowd. But this is not true. Proverbs 14:12 says There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death. The truth is that majority of people are not living in the will of God. Majority are living to please themselves, not to please God. Majority of people are living in rebellion against God. They may be fervent in religion and prayerful; they may be committed in worship and zealous for God, but by their actions they deny him. Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. To blindly follow their pattern of life is to follow them to eternal damnation. This is because the majority of people you see around you are walking on the broad way of life that leads to hell. The bible says in Matthew 7:13-14, Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
The narrow way is tortuous and full of challenges. Only the patient and faithful can walk it. People love the easy way of life that is free of stress and challenges. They love the blessings of God but are not ready to bear their cross. Even in the church, majority are broad way Christians whose worship of God and loyalty is superficial. Matthew 15:8-9 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Jesus is not of this world. Therefore, to pattern your life after the people of the world is to live contrary to the new life in Jesus. 1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. You ought to walk as Jesus walked, think as Jesus thought, speak as Jesus spoke and live as Jesus lived.
Thought for the day: The narrow way may be hard, but it is the sure way to heaven.
Song for the day: Will you be ready when Jesus comes?
Bible reading for the day: 1 Samuel 10-12; Luke 13:22-35
