TOPIC: REMARKABLE TESTIMONY OF SISTER DEBORAH SAMUEL (1)
TEXT: PSALM 103: 1-5
TUESDAY OCTOBER 3RD
Key verse: Psalm 126:3 The Lord has done great things for us whereof we are glad.
Praise the Lord! God saved my husband and I from death in a fatal motor accident on our way from Sokoto to the Holiness camp in Kwali, Abuja for the international Holiness youth conference in July, 2021. During the week preceding the journey, I felt very weak. I was unable to do my normal daily activities. In fact, at a point, I felt so weak that I wondered if I would be able to travel for the program. I stayed mostly indoors, to the extent that visitors would come to our house and stay for hours but I would remain helpless inside, unknown to them. Close to the date of the journey, I summoned courage and called for a sister to come to the house and plait my hair.
A day into the journey, I had an impulse to buy credit for my phone. I asked my husband for money. He told me to wait till the next day since it was getting late but I insisted until he agreed. I went and credited my phone with N400 worth of airtime. My husband dreamt that we missed the first and second buses but that the third bus we boarded outran the first two buses. We prayed about it and came out early for the journey. We waited for long by the roadside for cyclists to take us to the park. When we got there, we were told that the first bus had gone while the second bus had only one space left. Another passenger took the place and the second bus moved. We sat side by side in the middle row of the third bus; a fourteen-seater bus.
Before the driver moved, he dashed out money freely to the union workers. I asked my husband if the driver was going to dash out all his money before we left the park. The driver started speeding right from the park. My husband reminded me of his dream which was playing out and requested that we should pray against accident. I prayed with my husband and dozed off. Later, I heard a loud blast as the front tyre burst; the driver lost control and the bus began to summersault. I opened my eyes but heard no sound from anybody. The boot cover smashed my leg against the iron as the bus stopped upside-down. I shouted, “Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!” I sustained a deep cut above my eyelid which made blood gush out as an open tap. I pressed a piece of cloth on it to control the bleeding. (To be continued).
