TOPIC: SAUL WAS MIGHTY BUT HE TRUNCATED HIS DESTINY.
Text: 1 Samuel 11:5-15.
SUNDAY MAY 21st
Key Verse: Hebrews. 10:39: “But we are not of the those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul;
The Lord raised Saul for greater exploits but had a truncated destiny. To truncate means, to cut off short, to maim, or to reduce to a stub. Beware of a great fall. Soul started from well but he was careless. Always ask for God's grace. Stand up for what is right even if you are standing alone. Don't fear, no man will be able to harm you. Take complicated matters to God. Address that matter before God squarely. God loves the humble. Saul, he was humble from the beginning until pride swallows him up. The choice of Saul was a divine call. If Satan pushes you to the wall, do not quit, there is a man of Galilee. Jesus is the Lion of the tribe of Judah.
When the Holy Ghost came upon Saul, he led the people into battle against the Ammonites and there was great victory such that no two people were left together. When the power of God is upon a man, he is unstoppable. Be careful so that you should not oppose somebody doing the will of God. Do not contend with the man of God. In 1 Samuel 11:12-13 when the people wanted to kill those who opposed him, righteous Saul said, “No man shall be put to death this day, for today the LORD has accomplished Salvation in Israel”. I wish Saul had continued like this to the end. The LORD would have established his kingdom over Israel forever. When you were humble and righteous did not God visit you? Why did you become proud and now this carefree life costs you your kingship? The sin in you will find you out, you cannot hide it from God.
Walk on the highway of holiness and no man will be able to harm you. Sin is a Mirage that Satan offers every wayward soul in exchange for his or her life. Sin and disobedience draw you backward. Beware of backslidden, repentance is still necessary. Turning back can lead to catastrophe. Never underestimate the power of little sin. What a great joy to end your Christian life in heaven.
Thought for the day: Learn from Jesus and you will find rest for your souls.
Song of the day: When the battle is over, we shall wear a crown…...
