Topic: IF YOU DON’T SETTLE THE PAST IT MAY HUNT YOUR FUTURE October Friday 16th
Text: Acts 23:1-4
Key verse: Acts 23:1 And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.
It is very important to do restitution. If a wrong foundation was laid in the past and it is being built upon now, there is need to uproot it so that error will not continue in your life. Suppose somebody came to you and complained of persistent stomach problem but because you were a wicked man, you advised him to mix sand with charcoal in water to drink and the man believed you. What would be the result when the man started drinking it? He would have suffered all kinds of unimaginable sicknesses for which you were responsible. Now that you are born again, you have to go back to him and say, “I was a wicked man when I did that. I was even angry that you asked me for help, so I just felt like adding to your trouble. That was why I recommended that evil concoction for you to drink. Please forgive me.”
To him that knows the good he ought to do and does not do it, it is a sin. You have come out of sin, why are you resisting restitution that would cleanse your evil past? Therefore, go back to that man you misled. What if you go back and the man says since I have been drinking this mixture of sand and charcoal my stomach is tensed up and the hospital says I need to undergo surgery? My brother you will have to help him with the money for the surgery because you were responsible for his medical condition. God wants justice. He is a God of truth. Now that you are a partaker of His divine nature, deal in truth. Do justice and show genuine love. Love and care for people. Rectify your evil ways. Settle the past; otherwise, it will hunt your future. Do it so that you do not have a bad name because such a bad name will give God a bad name too. Settle the past for that is the will of God. It is the Holy Ghost that is always convicting you to go and make peace. Now that you have built upon the wrong foundation and all these work you are doing with the government was with a falsified credential, will you keep building on a wrong foundation? Go and confess your past sins and be free of fault.
Thought for the day: Pull down that wrong foundation else you will suffer damage in future.
Song for the day: Peace, Purity, Power, All mine in the Lord....
