DISCRIMINATION IN THE BODY OF CHRIST UNDERMINES THE UNITY OF FAITH

Topic: DISCRIMINATION IN THE BODY OF CHRIST UNDERMINES THE UNITY OF FAITH October Monday 12th

Text: 1 Corinthians 1:10-13

Key verse: 1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

There is a sad and alarming trend in Christianity today as seen in most denominational churches. It is a trend that we must resist and put a stop to. Preachers in their bid to maintain control over people have formed religious groups. These groups exist and are identified as ‘denominations’. These denominations operate under a common name and have a common identity. You can identify them by their beliefs, traditions, practices and the sins they condone. You can tell them by the distinctive and often misleading interpretation of the Scriptures that they share among themselves. The trend today is that most church denominations have locked their gates and isolated themselves from the Church universal. They discourage their members from having fellowship with other Christians and operate independently for fear of their members being lost to other denominations. This practice is undermining God-intended unity in the body of Christ. It is hindering the opportunity for synergy with other churches and working together as one body. Yet, Christ is bigger than any denomination.

Let me state categorically that Jesus is not a God of denomination. The Holy Bible does not support denominations; neither did Jesus nor any of the disciples start any denomination. Denominations came from the disagreements of men on the interpretation of the Word of God. Over the years, Satan took advantage of these disagreements and poured out the denomination spirit on men, thereby further widening the gulf that existed between Christians and sometimes creating disaffection amongst them. He knows that a house divided against itself cannot stand.

I strongly recommend that you meditate on the warning given in the Bible against false teachings or what is termed “another gospel.” Any gospel that undermines the unity of the body of Christ or that is aimed at building a wall around a denomination to isolate its members from the wider Christian community or to shield them from the truth of God’s word, is “another gospel” and not according to godliness. There is no righteousness in it, hence it must be resisted in order to gain access to the people to evangelize them and set them free from spiritual bondage and captivity.

Thought for the day: Beware of believing another gospel strange to the scripture.

Song for the day: Forever O Lord, Thy word is settled in heaven...

Bible reading for the day:

Isaiah 48-49; Colossians 4

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

The local church should teach and train her members on scriptural fasting. Believers need to know that the Lord expects...

The Testimony Of Jesus Is Spirit Of Prophecy.

God's blessings will continually accompany you for dedicating time to your studies. The Testimony Of Jesus Is Spirit Of Prophecy.  Monday 10th November  Text: Jude 1: 2-5 Key verse: Jude 1: 3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. The faith of Jesus has already been delivered and it is written in the scriptures. Whatever prophecies, revelations or dreams that comes must not be contrary to the standard in the scripture. They must speak the same thing. The testimony of Jesus is spirit of prophecy. Every prophecy or revelation must honour Jesus and must be according to the written word. Even where they are new things, they must not contradict because the Bible is a summary of the things Jesus did. The Bible cannot contain all things. It must be according to what the scripture has already signified, ...
