TOPIC: IMPORTANCE OF PARENTAL CONSENT, COURTSHIP AND WEDDING

TEXT GENESIS 24:50-58

KEY VERSE: GENESIS 24:51: Behold, Rebekah is before thee, take her, and go, and let her be thy master`s son`s wife, as the LORD hath spoken.

When a sister or a brother has known the will of God in marriage, medical test is required under the supervision of the marriage committee, before the brother is allowed to see the sister or the sister to see the brother as the case may be.

After this, the brother and the sister need to be introduced to each other`s parents for their consent. Where there is resistance especially, from the parents of the woman, both must take it to God in prayer and wait for the way to be cleared. There must also be careful enquiry as to the marital history of each one in the courtship to ensure that he or she is not lawfully married before that time.

After parental introduction, courtship can start with the guidance of the marriage committee. Courtship is a period for familiarization, discussion and planning for the future home and family. This is because you are separate entities. Thus, courtship is the time of discussion. How many children do you want to have? Some may desire only one while other may think of many.

Courtship fellowship and discussion should be done in a secure place to avoid temptation to unclean behavior. Such secured place includes the house of a mature married couple, the church building or any appropriate place suggested by the leadership.

A supervisory eye on them is required from time to time. People in courtship should not be left to each other. All long journeys and visitations to relations should have the accompaniment of a brother or a sister for spiritual security.

Satisfactory settlement in dowry payment and other legitimate demands of the parents should be done to obtained the release of their daughter for marriage. Ungodly demands should be politely and firmly rejected, neither should money equivalent be given. The wedding ceremony must be devoid of worldliness and must show the grace and glory of God.

Thought for the day: let all things be done decently and in order.

Song for the day: In the presence of God Halleluiah Joy 3x.

Bible reading for the day: Ezekiel 5-8

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...
For taking your time to study remain blessed. FACTS TO BE UNDERSTOOD ON REVELATION MESSAGES WEDNESDAY JANUARY 11 TEXT: NUMBERS 12: 4-8. Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
