TOPIC: LET NOT THE NAME OF GOD BE BLASPHEMED BECAUSE OF YOU
TEXT: Romans 2:17-24
KEY VERSE: Romans 2:24 For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
Because of your backslidden state, God has suspended His protection over your life. He is telling you, prodigal son, I want to try something on you. Go and face that devil; go and try something out in that far country. Go and come back with your gain. Go and face the operation of the Syrian army. Go and face the operation of the antichrist. Go and face multiple operations of the devil which gives no rest, no peace and no gain. Leave the place of peace and go to where you find peace no more. You want to leave the environment of gain and go into the vanity of life? The sad part of it is that the name of the loving and holy God is being blasphemed because of you. As you pass by, if only you can hear what people are saying at your back. They would say, “Did you see that person going there, he says he is holy but if you see his life now, his is worse than we that have been sinners for long.” If sinners are saying this, what would be your record in heaven? Why did you do this to yourself? Why are you doing these things to hurt God? God gave you His holy commandment, you received His holy calling and embraced it, but after seeing the glory of it you abandoned it. Too bad!
You that was spiritual has now gone carnal. You have become aggressive, quarrelsome and troublesome. Patience of the spirit is no more of value to you. You have thrown humility away. You are now saying, “No, they are counting me for a fool. I want to go and show them who I am.” Before they say one, you have said ten because you want to prove yourself. Now that you have succeeded in emptying yourself of humility and shown to the whole world that you are in the flesh, what have you gained? You said you want to go and show them that you are a man. What did you gain? Your testimony is now the bruises and wound that are all over your body. You now make people look down on you as a disgrace and disappointment. You too began to say, “I miscalculated, I misfired!” You truly did and fell flat! The name of the Lord is blasphemed because of you. God is waiting for your repentance and cleansing.
Thought for the day: Stop dragging the name of God in the mud.
