TOPIC: THE POWER OF DISCIPLINE
TEXT: Jeremiah 35:1-10
KEY VERSE: 1Corinthians 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

In today’s reading text, we see Jonadab as an example of a self-denier. He was a man of high discipline, who also inculcated discipline in his children. He observed that the children of Israel had backslidden and he being a righteous man, did not want his children to join them in their rebellion against God.  Jonadab, in his fear of the Lord and love for Him, instructed his children to keep away from the children of Israel so that they don’t get polluted as well. They must avoid practicing everything the children of Israel were practicing. He took them to a location and asked them not to build a house but to live in tents, and they should neither plant vineyards nor drink wine.  He gave clear instructions to his children on how to live and shield themselves from the practices of backslidden children of Israel and they obeyed.

There are some things practiced by some churches which came through their leaders. It may not be easy doing some of them but it is being obeyed all the same because they want to achieve something through it. As one person starts doing it others follow. If a driver is driving his master and the master is the kind that doesn’t stop on the way to eat food, will the driver have the courage to stop and eat? Even though he is hungry, he cannot. When I was in the government as an accountant, I was going somewhere with my Director General and when we were refueling at the filling station, I saw somebody hawking groundnut and I bought some. When I gave my Director General to eat he said, “No! Big men don’t eat groundnut on the road.” That day I learnt something. If the head of a household goes to bed by 8:00pm, that family would be sleeping early. Everybody will just fall in line. That is discipline. Develop Christian discipline in every area of your life. Discipline in the study of the word, discipline in listening to messages, discipline in evangelism, discipline in giving, discipline in devotional life, discipline in everything that is of spiritual value. In fact, discipline in your sleep so that you don’t oversleep to forget morning prayers and vigils.

Thought for the day: An undisciplined life is a sinful life.
Song for the day: I’d be a true soldier I’d die at my post
Bible reading for the day:
Judges 3-5; Luke 7:31-50

Signs And Wonders Should Be According To Biblical Pattern

God's blessings shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Signs And Wonders Should Be According To Biblical Pattern Text: Mark 16: 17 – 20 Wednesday May 8th Key verse: Obadiah 17 “Upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.” God has prepared to direct us on holy service unto Himself. He tells us when the lives and services of people are corrupt because from the heart of men proceed the works they do. When people are righteous and holy, their service is also righteous and holy. Hence, the word says, make the people holy then their service will be holy, so if you accept to live a life of holiness, then the fruit of your service will be holy. So, it is very important to accept the life of holiness because the God that made you is holy; He will give you grace to be holy. You just make up your mind to be holy. Do not accept that no man can be holy; then Jesus came for nothing, Jes...
REMAIN BLESSED AS YOU TAKE YOUR TIME TO STUDY THE WORD OF GOD AMEN. PRAY CONSTANTLY                                                                      FRIDAY 11 MARCH TEXT: Luke 18: 1-7 Key verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:17; Pray without ceasing. I wish My children, whilst upon earth, to live more and more with Me in “the heavenly places”. Here, there is no fear or hurry or fret of spirit. I am gratified when you wait upon Me –which waiting I always honour. My thoughts, as you wait upon Me, are impressed upon you: all that I am must be increasingly absorbed by you. It is as you wait upon Me that I give to you that sense of calm assurance which you must carry about with you always. It comes from knowing that everything you have committed to Me is being surely worked out. Yes, immerse yourself in Me –and do ...
