TOPIC: DIVINE COUNSEL IS PROFITABLE TO THE SOUL
TEXT: Proverbs 1:20-33
KEY VERSE: Proverbs 11:14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
Because of the pitiable condition of the Laodicean Church which they knew not about, God gave them a counsel. Revelation 3:18 “I counsel thee to buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.” Can you see the counsel? Buy from Me gold tried in the fire. Why is the gold tried in the fire? It is for the purpose of purification of the gold; that the dross can be burnt out, leaving only the pure shining gold! In this scripture, pure gold symbolizes the undiluted word of God. God is saying the word of God going on in that church is not pure word, it is mixed, it is polluted and adulterated with dirt and filth. There are lies attached to what they are saying there; lies that come by human wisdom. There is carnality in their messages so the word is not pure. This is why members of the congregation are not hot. The word that should make them hot and preserve them in holiness is not just there! They open the Bible quite all right but what they are reading, what they are teaching is not deep enough to save.
This is the spiritual condition of most of these churches and you have been worshipping there without knowing something was wrong. You never knew what they were teaching you was half-truth that cannot save or preserve you for heaven. Bicycle helps mobility, but can it move as fast as a car? Car is faster, but can it take you to America? Would you prefer traveling to America spending two weeks or more in a ship than arriving there within twelve hours in an aircraft? Technology has given us better means of transportation, so has grace brought deeper truth of scripture in our day for the salvation of souls. The missionaries that took the gospel across the world did their best but they were limited in knowledge of the whole truth of scripture. You have come to HOREMOW to learn the whole truth of salvation, so hold fast to it; preach it and live by it to preserve your soul until you meet Jesus in heaven. Amen!
