TOPIC: INCREASING IN KNOWLEDGE AND
ANOINTING PART 2
TEXT: Proverbs 2:1-6
Key verse: 2 Peter 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make youthat ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This is the continuation of yesterday's message.
5. Searching Out the Truth for Yourself. Knowledge has to be turned into understanding for it to be useful. Knowledge is raw data that needs
processing to become understanding. Wisdom is application of what is understood. When you pour water in the top container of a water purifier, you ! don't drink from that container. You wait for the water to pass through
purification process and trickle into the bottom container, then the water becomes fit for drinking. You need to take time to study and search out truth in order to increase in knowledge, understanding and anointing. Act 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
6. Prayer. Cry after knowledge. Lift up your voice for understanding.
Proverbs 2:1-5;
1.My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2.So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3.Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; 4. If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5. Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
7. Self-Purification. Cleanse yourself if you want God to reveal his glory to you.
When you are expecting to receive an important guest, don't you carry out
general cleansing and put your house in order? Is God not greater? If you want to
have more of God, cleanse yourself. 2 Timothy 2:20-21 But in a great house there
are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
8. Learn from True Men of God. Philippians 4:9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace
shall be with you. Elisha studied under Elijah and received double portion
according to his taste. This is a working and unchangeable formula. Proverbs 13:20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
Thought for the day: When you have good knowledge, you will not misuse anointing.
Song for the day: Jesus is the sweetest name I know …
Bible reading for the day: Job 19-20; Acts 9:23-43
