USE OF ANOINTING OIL IN THE GOSPEL   MONDAY DECEMBER 4
TEXT: JAMES 5:14-16
Key verse: “And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him” James 5:15.
From our text for today and from the uniformed testimony of scripture, what brings healing to the one lying down on the bed of affliction is the use of the name of the Lord Jesus and prayer offered in faith on God's promises. Understand that the anointing oil in use over the sick does not represent the presence of the Holy Spirit, since the Spirit Himself is now with us and in believers. What then is the place of the oil? Apart from its soothing effect, we may understand that when oil is massaged on the afflicted man through the loving hands of the elders in physical touches, his heart and mind receive the communication of brotherly love and care. Thus he is comforted and energized in his inner man. This condition of heart may assist his faith for his desired healing and miracle. This explanation may serve for the oil recommended. This passage is the only one in the New Testament that recommends the use of anointing oil and restricts its use to the sick, the critically sick, as we can see. In such circumstance the sick or their loved ones should call for or send for the elders to come to where the sick one is bedridden. The elders should come and pray so that the Lord would raise him up, heal him of his critical condition and give him strength to rise and go about his normal duty. The elders who are called upon are coming to do their part and God will do His part. (a) The elders should pray over him. (b) The elders should anoint him with oil. (c) The elders should minister to him in the name of the Lord Jesus. (d) The elders should pray the prayer of faith over him to save him. (e) The Lord shall raise him up, heal him, energize him, and make him rise up from the bed of affliction. (f) His sins, if he has committed any, shall be forgiven. The use of anointing oil on the sick is optional, Apostle Peter administered healing to a bedridden man, named Aeneas without anointing him with oil. Acts 9:32-35. And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda. And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy. And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately. And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord. Aeneas was in a condition that would have warranted the use of anointing oil, but Apostle Peter did not use it.

Signs And Wonders Should Be According To Biblical Pattern

God's blessings shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Signs And Wonders Should Be According To Biblical Pattern Text: Mark 16: 17 – 20 Wednesday May 8th Key verse: Obadiah 17 “Upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.” God has prepared to direct us on holy service unto Himself. He tells us when the lives and services of people are corrupt because from the heart of men proceed the works they do. When people are righteous and holy, their service is also righteous and holy. Hence, the word says, make the people holy then their service will be holy, so if you accept to live a life of holiness, then the fruit of your service will be holy. So, it is very important to accept the life of holiness because the God that made you is holy; He will give you grace to be holy. You just make up your mind to be holy. Do not accept that no man can be holy; then Jesus came for nothing, Jes...
REMAIN BLESSED AS YOU TAKE YOUR TIME TO STUDY THE WORD OF GOD AMEN. PRAY CONSTANTLY                                                                      FRIDAY 11 MARCH TEXT: Luke 18: 1-7 Key verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:17; Pray without ceasing. I wish My children, whilst upon earth, to live more and more with Me in “the heavenly places”. Here, there is no fear or hurry or fret of spirit. I am gratified when you wait upon Me –which waiting I always honour. My thoughts, as you wait upon Me, are impressed upon you: all that I am must be increasingly absorbed by you. It is as you wait upon Me that I give to you that sense of calm assurance which you must carry about with you always. It comes from knowing that everything you have committed to Me is being surely worked out. Yes, immerse yourself in Me –and do ...
