TOPIC: A MAN’S DIVINE CALL TO MINISTRY INCLUDES HIS WIFE
TEXT: Acts 18:24-26
Key verse: Act 18:2 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.
The standard of divine call was manifested in the life and ministry of Abraham. Abraham was called as the father of faith. The Lord was going to bring out the gospel that will save the world through Abraham. Through Abraham we see the gospel of Christ, the gospel of faith spread to the ends of the world to the point that we are called the children of Abraham. Of course, you women are called the daughters of Sarah. This is the standard Christian ministry, how God wants it to go - the man and the woman. God would want us to go through this because ministry got lost when people began to go into ministry without standard. Those that entered into ministry entered into it without this complete formation. Many are into ministry and their wives are not cooperating and the bible tells us, for ministry to be effective, the family of the preacher must play their role. The wife of the preacher must play her role; but this is not happening.
A tough and uncooperating wife will frustrate and destroy the privilege of ministry that God has given to the husband. God has called and anointed people giving them grace but their wives are just frustrating them. The man is just dragging because there is battle and quarrel at home. Why? He has a wife that is frustrating his work. A wife that does not want to raise pure, holy, dedicated men for this work. Wives must cooperate with their husbands in ministry. They must submit to them and play their role well to enable them carry out assignments in their ministry successfully as Abraham did. How can the servant of God rule his own house if the wife is not cooperating? How can his children be under subjection if the wife is not cooperating, if it is none of the wife’s business? If the wife is full is full of herself, full of complain, full of laziness, full of weaknesses, she becomes a doorway for Satan to enter into the house, into the family and into the ministry. That is why the Lord is speaking to the women to play their roles well.
Thought for the day: An uncooperative wife will destroy the privilege of ministry that God has given to her husband
