TOPIC: WATCH YOUR BACK AS YOU RUN THIS CHRISTIAN RACE
TEXT: Luke 22:47-48
KEY VERSE: Psalm 55:20 He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant.
Mixed multitude affected Israel. They are not all Israel, which are of Israel (Romans 9:6). Satan also sends spies among the children of God. A man wanted to rob a bank so he pretended to be mad for many years studying the operation and architecture of the bank. David planted Hushai in the government of Absalom as a spy. He pretended to be a friend, but was actually an enemy whose sole mission was to frustrate his military campaign. There are always false brethren among the true ones and they can cause confusion. They are zealous in service and evangelism. They make themselves readily available so you will find them to use but they are there for harm, not for good. They are evil counselors.
Psalm 55:12-14 [12] For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it : neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: [13] But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. [14] We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.
They are false friends and loyalists. When they tell you, I am here for you, it is a lie. Psalm 55:21 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.
Jael deceived Sisera and killed him. He thought he was in the hands of a friend, but it was not to be. Judges 4:18, 21 18 And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into the tent, she covered him with a mantle. 21 Then Jael Heber's wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died. If he knew he was in the hands of an enemy, he would have been more careful. Be watchful of enemies within in your Christian race.
Thought for the day: Be careful of enemies that masquerade as friends.
