TOPIC: DON’T GET ENTANGLED WITH UNBELIEVERS September Saturday 5th
TEXT: Hosea 7:8–9
KEY VERSE: 2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
A little dead fly in the oil of the apothecary. Sweet oil with good smell, but when people see a dead fly in it, they remove their eyes and hold their noses. Beautiful oil but foul odour! You are not paying attention to your life and folly has come into you. In today’s reading text, Ephraim is described as a cake not turned. Weakness has come upon him. Can you see? How did it happen like that? He mixed himself with wrong people. Why are you having close friends that are not Christians? You are keeping friends who have no Christian vision. You sit down from morning till afternoon, talk and laugh, and talk and laugh, until your strength is gone. After such talk, the next thing will be to sleep. O sleeper! And when you sleep, you have labored in talk, you have labored to laugh, you will sleep deeply. You have gone to join a group of people who don’t have anything to do with Jesus. People who are not commissioned by God to do any service for Him. People who do not know anything about holy living.
These are the people that have kept you occupied. You have gone to do business with them. You are now seeking money like them. You have joined the hassles for money. As a result, grey hair is here and there on your head. The upper side of you is Christian, but the lower part is something else. It is a cake not turned. The underneath is done, but the upper side is not done, because it is not turned. That is Ephraim – a cake not turned. Strangers have devoured his strength. The strangers you brought into your life have now devoured your strength. Brother, sister, you know them. As for our iniquities, we know them. Our sins and our transgressions are not hidden before us. You have been struggling, because you have mixed yourself with wrong people. Do something about it before it is too late. 2 Corinthians 6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
Thought for the day: Stay away from wrong companions to stay alive in Christ.
Song for the day: I want to be like Daniel to follow Jesus Christ
Bible reading for the day: Proverbs 7-8; 1 Corinthians 14:21-40
