THE BATTLE AGAINST SELF
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 9
TEXT: Matthew 11:28-30.
KEY VERSE: “And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth?  and why is thy countenance fallen?” Genesis 4:6
Man in everything seeks to promote self. Man always feels cheated and wants to be recognized. The self in a man is the reflection of the old nature inherent in him. This is associated with the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life which is contrary to the will of God. The strife between two individuals is the manifestation of self in a man as can be seen in the case of Cain and Abel (Genesis 4: 1-8). Another case is that of Jacob and Esau (Genesis 26: 12-17). A believer can overcome the flesh in the following ways:
(i). Deal with self and allow Christ to reign in you:  If the self in a man is not overcome, it becomes very difficult to live a successful Christian life. God searches the heart and He said the heart is desperately wicked and except the Lord cleanses it, it will continue to manifest in a man. The only way out is for the man to obtain salvation from the Lord.
(ii) A man requires a new life in Christ to overcome self: He must be born again, genuinely saved, regenerated. Then he cries unto God to cleanse him from inner sin which is obtained by faith in the living God. When this is done self is purged by God and the person becomes free and peaceful (Ezekiel 36:25-28).
25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
(iii) Watch and pray: God wants us to continue in prayer so that we do not enter into temptation. The Christian journey in holiness and righteousness is a spiritual warfare against the flesh. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. God wants you to think about righteous things. Whatever you do or say let it glorify God and not to promote self or the cause of the devil.

Thought for the day: To live a successful Christian life, deal with the self in you.
Song for the day: Make me holy (3x) Oh Lord

Bible reading for the day: Leviticus 7-9; Matthew 25:31-46

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
