THE PERIL OF PRAYERLESSNESS TUESDAY FEBRUARY 27
TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 12: 20-25
Key verse: “And He spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint Luke18:1.”
Prayerlessness is a sin. In our text, Samuel understood it as such. Believers are commanded to pray without ceasing. This was demonstrated practically by the Lord Jesus Himself during His earthly ministry. The apostles determined to give themselves to prayer and the ministry of the word. Prayer was the duty and preoccupation of the prophets and ministers of God both in the Old and New Testament era. Prayerlessness is an outright rebellion against God. It is telling God to stop what He has started. It is continuing in the flesh what began in the Spirit. Refusing to intercede for souls of sinners means folding the arms and asking God to do His worst (Ezekiel 22:30, 31). Prayerlessness withdraws the presence of God and is a symptom of backsliding. Indeed the prayerless man is telling God that he is capable of handling his affairs and as such does not need divine guidance or intervention. Prayerlessness is conspiring to reduce the kingdom of God on earth, by refusing to pray for labourers to be sent into the Lord’s vineyard. (Matthew 9:37-38).
A prayerless Christian will replace prayer with other religious activities. The quickest way for a Christian to die is through prayerlessness. To be prayerless is to become sinful (Matt 26:41, Mark 14:38).To be prayerless is to become unworthy (Luke 21:36). To be prayerless is to be unprepared for the rapture (Mark 13:33). To be prayerless is to support/promote satanic wickedness in the body of Christ. Christians must put on the whole armour of God, of which prayer is an integral part. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; (Ephesians 6: 18)
Believers must watch against some habits and tendencies that may lead to prayerlessness. Talkativeness is a symptom of prayerlessness. Overeating, Self pity, refusal to do complete restitution, Living in past glory, Giving yourself to much pleasure, Trusting in past achievements and uncertain riches can lead to prayerlessness. Note that praying unscriptural prayers, such as vain repetitions, use of candles, incense, “Back to sender” prayer books, use of aprons, mantles, anointed handkerchiefs, etc is reckoned as prayerlessness. Prayerlessness also includes the following: Praying without faith; Praying selfish prayers; Praying to God while continuing in sin; Praying without concentration; Praying without expecting answers and praying outside the name of Jesus.

Thought for the day: A prayerless Christian is not a holy Christian.
Song for the day: Prayer is the key (2x) Prayer is the master key
Bible reading for the day:
Numbers 18-20; Mark 7:1-13

Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All

God's blessing shall be following you continually for taking the time to study. Them That Sin, Rebuke Before All   Monday 24th March Text: 1 Timothy 5: 19-22 Key verse: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Timothy 5:20 God wants you to avoid doing evil while saying you want to go to heaven. You may be a member of a worldly church and be saying, “It is my tribal church; if I leave them, they will be angry. I do not want them to be angry.” Is it God you want to make angry by your compromise? You will see the anger of God indeed. It is through the word that you perfect the people, and as a result, the Bible says, “Thou shalt not suffer sin upon your brother. Thou shall reprove him.” Your brother or sister has done a bad thing, and you do not bother. You leave them in their sins. They may do the same to other people. The Lord says, “Correct them.” Do not allow sin to be in them because sin will take them to hell. The Bible says, “Them that sin, rebuke befo...

Key verse: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 8:20. God has given revelations to many in our days and He is still in the business of doing that. The choice of these messengers is His sovereign will. Some of these revelations are written in books for all to read and some are shared verbally. There are scriptural facts to be understood on these revelation messages. They follow the pattern of scriptural revelations in the Holy Bible. Some are given in plain, simple and direct language, while some are given in pictorial language and figures of speech. The recipient of the revelation may be an ignorant person whose understanding is unfruitful, hence, he may not be capable to interpret the revelation received. Except God gives the grace of interpretation to ...
