FORMAL INTRODUCTION TO PARENTS FRIDAY FEBRUARY 16
TEXT: Genesis 24: 33-50
Key Verse: “Let all things be done decently and in order.” 1Corinthians 14:40
The brother and sister after agreeing with each other need to be introduced to each other’s parents for their consent. Where there is resistance especially from the parents of the woman both must take it to God in prayer and wait for the way to be cleared. The bible says follow peace with all men and holiness. If your parents say no, they may give any flimsy reason for it: “I don’t want another tribe; we don’t marry people of that tribe; it is a flimsy reason and they may be looking serious. The heart of a man is in the hand of God as rivers of water He turns it wither soever He wills. So the heart of your parents are in the hands of God, go to God I prayer, even pharaoh eventually said, you can go and worship your God and pray for me also. The Lord will work in their hearts. Don’t jump up and say, “No! You people are wasting my time, you people are wasting my time, I cannot stand, man let’s go”. It is not a Christian marriage to do that. Your leaders are there to guide you, to understand situations with you, to advice you, to pray with you, organizes fasting and prayer for you. Why do we say you should wait? It is because sometimes your journey is like the journey of Balaam. The difference is in your heart and God is not willing. He has used every method to stop you, it didn’t work, so He said, “Well, I am going to use your parents, they will never give you go ahead”. So we don’t know whether the resistance your parents are giving is the language of God, saying I am not in that marriage, so you will have to pray and if it is not the language of God, the door will be opened. But if the thing continues persistently, it is wisdom to withdraw, you and that woman are not Adam and Eve, that you will say, “if I withdraw, which other woman is there in the world? Aaaah!. There are women in the world, women in the church. “Which other man can I find”? You will find better men. If it is God that is stopping you there, He has another one for you, so we must have faith in God and follow the path of peace. But let this not affect people who are already married. You parents really resisted it before, but you forced yourself and got married, and then your parents just followed behind and said, “Okay since she has gone, if we don’t collect money and eat we will be losing in two ways, it is better we go and collect the money”, and they came later and have collected the money and have made peace. Marriage has been confirmed. But in case they have rejected up till today, and have not collected anything then it means that up till today, marriage has never held.
Thought for the day: Have faith in God and follow the path of peace.
Song for the day: We are heirs of the Father

KEY VERSE: It came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said, Lord, teach us how to pray as John taught his disciples. Luke 11: 1. When Jesus Christ came to us in the flesh, He went into the business of prayer because He was promoting the attribute of God as a prayer-answering God. He would not render that attribute idle or redundant. Nobody knew how John did it, but Jesus reveals here that the success you saw in the ministry of John the Baptist, the victory you saw in his ministry, is because he was a prayer man. John so much valued prayer. He saw the essentials of pr...
