TOPIC: DESIRE APOSTLE PAUL'S HOLY AND RIGHTEOUS LIFESTYLE
TEXT: ACTS 9:1-6
1. And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,.
2. And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.
3. And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:
4. And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
5. And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
6. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
KEY VERSE: ACTS 24:16 “And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offense towards God, and towards men”.
Paul, who was then called Saul, was well known for his fierce hatred and persecution against Christians. Bible records have it that Paul’s spiritual conversion took place outside the city of Damascus, where he had an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ, on his way to perpetrate more evils against Christians.
Paul encounters Jesus, accepted Him as Messiah and surrendered to His leadership and authority; he went without eating and prayed for guidance with an attitude of deep devotion to God. He was a missionary with an extraordinary zeal for the spread of the Gospel. He was either visiting the brethren, or writing letters to check on their spiritual wellbeing.
He touched on many areas of life through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit; no wonder God made him write many books of the New Testament. Apostle Paul was a mentor to many and inspired others to greater height in the Ministry. He also worked with the disciples of Jesus Christ to move the message of salvation forward.
Paul’s work with Barnabas, Silas and other disciples was wonderful. He mentored Timothy, as a son, to be bold and courageous. Paul also testified to the Jews and the Greeks for repentance towards God. God wrought a lot of wonders among the gentiles through the Ministry of Paul the Apostle.
He suffered persecution, imprisonment, ship wreck, etc for Christ. Paul said, “but none of these things moved me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received from the Lord Jesus to testify the gospel of the Grace of God”.
Paul spent his life being a tentmaker, not relying on members to meet his needs or stealing from God’s money. Paul rebuked Peter openly when he separated himself from eating with the Gentiles for fear of the circumcised (Galatians 2:8-14). Peter’s act was hypocritical. Emulate Paul’s lifestyle
