Treat Leaders Scripturally
Saturday 20th June
Text: Acts 4:19-20
Key verse: Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, we ought to obey God rather than men. Acts 5:29
If a leader has fallen into sin, error or gone into false doctrine, make good and wise effort to reprove him and restore him to truth. If he refuses to repent, withdraw from him or seek his removal from a leadership position, depending on the situation and the administrative pattern. Never consider the sin or evil doctrine of your unrepentant leaders as a small thing. It will dawn your souls in hell. You are not sold to a leader but to Christ. The leader who has turned away from Christ must be abandoned as expired drugs. Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death and shall hide a multitude of sins (James 5: 19, 20). A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself (Titus 3: 10, 11).
Do not seek prayer and blessing from backslidden ministers or false prophets. They may impart their corrupt and rebellious spirit into you. Some are operating by demonic power. Laying hands on you may be dangerous to your life. Value your soul above physical blessing. Those you may seek prayer and spiritual blessings from must be righteous and true leaders, with good Christian testimony. Honour the word of God above the word of your leaders. Do not equate the words of your human leaders to the word of God except he is speaking the word of God. Believe the word of God and defend it above the words of your leaders. Obey the word of God rather than the words of men. Do not support the ministry of an ungodly or backslidden leader and a false prophet in cash or in kind, however close he is to you. To do so is to partake in his evil deeds and suffer the same Divine judgment; to support them is to promote their evil deeds against God and man.
